Welcome to the tenth installment of the MLBPPWorld RPG!

I’m not completely sure how this will go, but I’m going to try something different: you’ll earn XP for different actions during the RPG and will “level up” to unlock different things like answer choices, friends, items, ability upgrades, etc.

This will be a “public” RPG meaning all answers/responses are to be posted on this thread unless otherwise specified. However, sign-ups are to be private messaged to me.

PM me the following:

“…Students wishing to try out for the baseball program are required to attend this afternoon’s meeting at 2:55 in the East Gymnasium. Students wishing to try out for the tennis program are encouraged to go screw themselves. We don’t have a tennis program. Thank you and have a nice day. Just kidding, I hope today sucks.”

What an odd principal…

Xander Woods, Matthew Simpson, and Cody Tibbits walked through the doors of Walker Grove Middle School and into the office. “Sorry we’re late,” Matthew gasped between heavy breaths, “traffic was terrible, and there was a wreck on the freeway.” “It’s alright, but don’t make it a habit,” the secretary, Mrs. Johnson, told the three boys. “I’ll give you passes this time. But don’t count on it next time.”

The boys thanked her and scurried off to class. “We have Mrs. Hall’s class first, right?” Cody asked as they searched frantically for room 138. “Yep,” Xander replied as he looked down at his schedule. It was only a brief glance, but it was a long enough look that he was unable to see the boy quickly approaching from the other direction, and as a result the two boys collided and fell to the ground. “You okay?” the boy asked Xander as he helped first himself and then Xander up. “Yeah. My name’s Xander Woods,” said the friendly sixth-grader, who extended his right hand. “Thurgood Stubbs, at your pleasure,” the other boy said as he stuck out his own right hand and shook Xander’s.

The boys hurried off to their first period math class. Mrs. Hall smiled as they entered the room and welcomed them to sixth grade. “You may sit wherever you like,” she said. Matthew took a desk in the front row, Xander took one in the back, and Cody sat as far left as possible, in the third row of desks.

“Okay, so during this first week or two, I’m just going to be going over some concepts from past years and testing your knowledge. Don’t worry, nothing will be for a grade, I just want to make sure we’re all on the same page before I start teaching you new material,” the friendly teacher said. “Ug, why don’t you come up and solve a problem on the whiteboard? Let me know when you’re ready.” Ug nodded to indicate he was ready as he uncapped an orange dry-erase marker. “Okay, here’s your problem: the ratio of boys to girls in a class is 2 to 3. If there are 45 students in total, how many girls are there in the class?”

Ug scribbled down some notes on the board. “boy to girl = 2 to 3, 45 total students, how many girls?” he wrote with the orange marker.

“I’m Asian. I got this. It’s 27.”

The whole class burst into laughter.

(Ug: XP +4)

Next up for the three boys was history class. A boy named Jimmy James walked in just as the bell rang and was assigned a seat in the front row near the teacher, an older, discipline-focused man named Mr. White.

Mr. White lectured the class on the importance of being on time and showing up to class prepared, and surprised the kids with a supply check, in alphabetical order by last name. First went Bo Anderson, then Carrie Andrews, then Lamont Brewer, and so on until it was Jimmy’s turn. “Alright, Jimmy, let’s see if you brought the required supplies,” Mr. White said.

What do you have in your backpack?

A. A folder, two pencils, your textbook, and some scratch paper
B. A binder, a black pen, a red pen, and your textbook
C. Three pencils, an eraser, your workbook, and a single piece of paper
D. Six Sharpies and some glue to sniff in the bathroom later
E. A ginormous dildo

“You can call me JJ, sir, and here are my supplies.”

JJ laid out his supplies on the desk: a folder, two pencils, a history textbook, and a pack of lined notebook paper.

“Perfect. And what’s this?”

“That’s, um, glue, sir. I was gonna sniff—I mean, I need it for art, so it’s just in my backpack for that, sir.”

“Uh, okay,” Mr. White said as he moved on to Josh Johnson, who was not the journeyman quarterback but rather a pretty nondescript, token black dude.

(Jimmy: XP +3)

Finally, it was time for recess. Xander started a game of four-square with Matthew, Cody, and another boy, but the other boy left and the game couldn’t go on without another player. Xander scanned the playground for someone he knew. There! It’s that kid who ran into me in the hall earlier! Thurman? No…Thurgood! That’s his name! Thurgood Stubbs! “Yo, Stubbs!” Xander bellowed. “You wanna play?”

Well? (LetsGoMets77)

A. “Hell yeah!”
B. “Sure…I guess…”
C. “No thanks”
D. “Four-square killed my father…”
E. “No, but I do wanna fight you”

Thurgood trotted over to the four-square court. “Sure, I’ll play,” he said. He quickly found himself enjoying the game that had taken his father’s life several years prior, and befriended Xander in the process.

(XP +5, Xander added as friend)

After recess was art, which was spent discussing what the kids wanted to do in the class. Mr. Brown’s class had always been fairly unstructured and free, but he wanted to get input on what he should focus on when he did want to get up and give a lecture or an assignment. As he took roll, Mr. Brown asked each student to vote for one of five ideas for their first class activity.

“Ellie LaFlare?”

“Present. I vote for painting, sir.”

“Stanislaus Lem?”

“Here! I vote for…”

(dustyfarmer)

A. Drawing
B. Painting
C. Sculpting
D. Photography
E. Digital Art

B. Painting, like my favorite painter Van Gogh

Post subject:  Re: RPG #10!

“…Painting! I love Van Gogh.”

There were twenty-eight students in the class, and fourteen voted for painting, and the other fourteen for drawing — a “draw”, as it were. So they would have two lessons in the first six-week period. Take that, administrators.

(Stanislaus: XP +4)

Xander led the trio to their final class before lunch, Spanish, which was in room 304. The teacher was a friendly middle-aged man who introduced himself as Señor Chaves. He then went around the room quizzing kids at random on some basic vocabulary words. First up was a boy named Anthony Mangum. “Anthony, will you tell me what the Spanish word is for ‘to go’?” the teacher asked.

What is the Spanish word for “to go”? (PowerPro Jr)

A. venir
B. comer
C. ir
D. ser
E. estudiar
