Johnny Boyega went all-out, even including a leg kick in his swing, as he attempted to really drive a charge into the ball.

He did not end up hitting the ball at all, though, but that wasn’t such a bad thing. Jamison walked him on four pitches and was removed for a reliever, righty Riley Crackrell, who was the fastest pitcher anyone on the team had yet faced, but was a bit wild and did not have any offspeed pitches.

(Johnny: XP +3)

Crackrell proceeded to strike out the side, as neither Sam, nor Jaxon, nor Danny could catch up to his high heat.

Lake Lagunov was kept in the game to pitch the sixth, but the coaches instructed Wei Ling and Peter Royal to get loose and start throwing in the bullpen. In addition, David Dobbs entered the game as a defensive replacement for Johnny at first base.

Neither reliever would be needed, as Lake had no problem breezing past the bottom third of Finley Fields’ lineup, and successfully locked down the save with a perfect ninth — inducing a weak flyout from first baseman Harrison Bell before striking out DH Edward Freeland and pinch-hitter Zach Chandler.

After a key win to start off conference play, the coaches treated the entire program to a pizza party and “social hour” instead of practice the next day.

(All players: SP +1, PWR +1)

The next day, the coaches decided to pair the players up into small groups for some team-building exercises (not the boring shit y’all do at camp, but just like talking and getting to know each other better and sharing what your goals are for the season). The players were all responsible for finding their own groups, and as luck would have it, Mason Phelps was the only kid left without a group when the dust cleared. He seemed to be on the verge of a panic attack, or perhaps a complete meltdown; several of the boys noticed this, and thought to help him.

What do you do? (dishnet34, Baseballteen9500, GoTwins24, PowerPro Jr, dustyfarmer)

A. Invite him to your group
B. Start your own group with him
C. Ignore him and just start talking
D. Point and laugh
E. Just kinda sit there silently

Johnny is in a friendly mood and will invite him into his group.

Everyone else has already expressed interest in adding/inviting him, so to avoid any possible conflict with the others, I'll go with E

“Phelpsie! Get over here buddy!” Stanislaus cheerfully called out. Mason turned to face him and smiled.

“Mason! You can join my group!” Johnny said. Mason whirled back around to look at him.

“Mason, we need you man, you’ll complete my group,” Harold said. Mason spun back to face him, still beaming wide.

“We could start our own group,” Lake whispered from directly behind Mason.

Anthony just kinda sat there, not doing anything, because he didn’t want to create any conflict.

Mason decided to play “eenie-meenie-miney-mo” to decide whose group he would join; he ultimately settled on Stanislaus’s group.

(Stanislaus: XP +3)
(Johnny: XP +2)
(Harold: XP +2)
(Lake: XP +2)

Now that the boys were all finally sorted into groups, they began to talk.

“That freshman team is looking really good,” Stanislaus said, referring to the game they had watched two days prior, with the Hammond High team taking down Marshton 11-0.

“Yeah!” Mason exclaimed. “I can’t wait to be up there in a few years.”

“Just one more year for me,” James Wilson said. “Enjoy this while you can.”

Johnny spent most of his weekend at the batting cages and out on the practice field trying to get some work in. Even after a solid performance and a win, he wasn’t satisfied. The coaches had taken him out for a defensive substitute late in the game, and he wanted to work on improving his range primarily, but also hit the cages to become a better hitter, figuring that at the very least he could become a good enough hitter that the coaches couldn’t take him out.

(Johnny: CON +3, PWR +1, RUN SPD +1, FLD +2)

When the second conference game rolled around, Johnny was still batting second — a spot that typically wasn’t a glamorous one, but recently had become the spot of choice for some coaches trying to put their best hitter in a spot to get more at-bats but also have a shot at some RBIs. Also in the lineup would be Xander Woods, who had continued his hard work over the weekend, and after a day off to rest, was ready to go as the designated hitter on Tuesday.

But first, of course, was the red-team game. Both teams would be facing the Greensburg Hornets, a team that typically followed very good seasons with very bad ones (and vice versa) — and they were coming off of a dismal season (with both teams combining for just six wins), so the expectation was that Greensburg would be a force to be reckoned with this season. Both teams had won all but one of their games thus far, but coincidentally, both of the teams’ losses had come in their conference opener.

The Greensburg B-team and Walker Grove’s red team squared off in the first game, with the two teams lining up like this:

Walker Grove Raiders (Red)

(1) Brady Hewitt, RF
(2) Stanislaus Lem, LF
(3) Jason Hamilton, 1B
(4) Matthew Simpson, P
(5) Danny Thornton, EH
(6) Evan Woolsey, C
(7) Tanner Davis, EH
(8) Harris Potts, 2B
(9) Mason Phelps, SS
(10) Colby Lemieux, CF
(11) Andy Teasdall, 3B

Greensburg Hornets (B)

(1) Jace Stringer, LF
(2) Brett Harris, 2B
(3) Owen Lockett, 1B
(4) A.J. Quinn, DH
(5) Will Crawford, RF
(6) Ian Imoto, 3B
(7) Dan Scott, SS
(8) Chris Cooper, C
(9) Alex Rowe, CF
(NB) Dave Durbin, P

time for some fun!

i haven't worked on the next update, and i'm sorry about that, but i've got a lot going on. i'm sick and don't have the motivation to do much of anything rn, plus finals are coming up and i'm legit stressing over some of those, etc.

but anyway i'm introducing what i'll call a "blind decision" -- basically, i give you a list of some responses, but the responses aren't obvious. instead of "hit and run" or "bunt", for example, they might be just "H" and "B", or they might be colors, or they might be nothing at all. or maybe some random words? idk

in any case, since stanislaus/dusty is the only player on this red team, he gets to try it out first, i guess

stanislaus / dustyfarmer, have at it.

???
1. Blue
2. Hazelnut
3. ur mom

Alright, so I know some of you really like this and look forward to the updates, but I'm really just not in the mood to write right now and I haven't been for several weeks, I hope you understand. I've officially decided to take a break from the RPG. It might be permanent. I might start writing again tomorrow. Who really knows?

In any case, there won't be any further updates for the time being. If this is the end, I truly did enjoy it while it lasted, this was certainly a lot of fun and I'm open to doing another similar thing at some point if this does shut down. :)

Sitting down for a snack, Stanislaus Lem surveyed the brown bag his mom had put together for him that day. The contents: a PBJ, some dried fruit and nuts, a banana, kale chips, and three rice balls.
As he was going for the banana, Sophie Creme was walking by. He said "Hi Sophie", to which she turned, surveyed him, rolled her eyes, and kept on walking.
"Ah well", he said to himself, "can't win them all", as he pulled the banana from the bag, and holding it like it a blaster, he put the barrel to his temple and pulled the fake trigger.
...
Johnny Boyega was the first person to discover him.
"Hey Lem, quit *(censored)* around dude it's time for practice"
The boy laying on the ground did not move.
As Johnny got closer, he saw that a banana, that wonderfully delicious tropical treat, was protruding from Lem's temple, and that there was a lot of blood.
At 4:05, Dr Cornelius Evazan declared that while he'd done all he could, the boy was dead.
Funeral services were held, and his ashes were spread at sea.

Where Are They Now? RPG #10! Edition

Stanislaus Lem committed suicide by banana at the tender age of 12-ish.

Johnny Boyega went on to become a famous actor in the Star Wars series. He did change his name to Harrison Ford.

Harold Henderson went on to become an NFL executive and an arbitrator.

Xander Woods is still on IR with a broken leg.
