In my travels and experiences, one thing I find odd is how important a vehicle is to some people. It can have many different causes, and even different manifestations - but for some people, their vehicle's look is of utmost importance.

It could be the guy who was born rich, and has tastes for Audi and BMW and wouldn't consider anything less.

It could be the douchey guy with the hummer.

It could be the guy who washes and waxes his big ole' pickup truck every week, and takes immense pride in its appearance.

It could be the guy who has a not-high-end, older car, but then jack it up with big rims, an out-of-place elevated suspension, or $10,000 worth of speakers.

What's odd is, I grew up surrounded by muscle cars (65-67 mustangs were restored in my dad's garage)...and I have the money to buy the highest-end vehicle...but to me, my 2005 does the job. Most of the smartest guys I know drive a vehicle that is even older than that. A sports car would be nice, but just...not necessary, you know? I feel like there are endless, better uses for money than flashy wheels.

Where do you stand? How important is the look or image of your vehicle? Is this a cultural thing, or taste, or is it related to poor prioritization?

I think my car (07 Honda Fit) reflects me a little bit. Cool, a bit quirky, a bit weird, but effective. That's what I like in the cars I drive, which I think the same went for my old 05 Cavalier. Heck, I've always wanted to drive a Beetle or those smart cars, for crying out loud!

I work 6 to 7 days a week on a farm, and my truck is constantly covered in dust.
The "benefit" of constantly working is that I don't spend muuch money.
When I do change trucks, it will be for another very used Toyota.
