Got my PSATs back.

I was really nervous for the Math section, omitting answers left and right. Only a 43, better than just 48% (/80%) of other sophomores. In Critical Reading, I got a 53%, higher than 81% of the 10th grade. My best overall was Writing Skills - 60/80%. That ranked higher than 94% of my grade.

Ah well, never planned on being involved with Math anyway.

43+53+60, that's a 156. That's right around average, I believe

grades came out - these are my semester grades:

Advanced Spanish (B+) Getting through one semester was good, doing it with a solid grade was great. Got an A on the final somehow.
Chemistry (A-) I like this class. Several people transferred in from Honors Chem, so this class stands around 20-25 people. Got an A- on the final.
Honors Digital Production (A+)
Study Hall
Lunch
Honors Survey of British Literature (B+) eh...A- on the final.
Honors Algebra II (A-) Didn't have a calculator for the final, managed a B.
World History II (A) A+ on the final

Overall this translates to a 3.97 (weighted) and 3.72 (unweighted) GPA for the first semester.

What does weighted and unweighted mean?

Unweighted is based on just grades - this is what colleges look at
Weighted gives extra value for honors/AP classes

A lot of colleges take AP classes into account

Most colleges look at unweighted GPA, but won't look at all if you don't have Honors/AP classes

The colleges that I applied to gave weight to AP classes

So I had my Modern World History midterm yesterday and two more today, sorry I have been on in a while guys.

2nd marking period grades came in.

Lab Bio - 79 (C), up from 75
Journalism - 95 (A), down from 98
US History 1A - 94 (A), up from 93
Spanish 2 - 87 (B), down from 95
English 1A - 90 (A), up from 76
Geometry - 90 (A), up from 85

Ey, my grades came out too

English - A
History - A-
Calculus - A
Health - A+
AP Bio - B+
Chefs II - A-
Gym - A
College Essay - A+

Who woulda thought that studying would help your grades

I certainly didn't.

We also had about the 4th real fire drill in about 4 months. Last time it was during lunch and took forever, before that was on my birthday. Today it was right after we got into homeroom and we went back outside in the cold. It's friggin' bitter this time of year.

Already have this Friday and next Monday off but we might get a foot of snow on Wednesday going into Thursday. Seems like every week we hear that's there's more coming. I don't mind it, but damn, this is as much as we've had in years. They're gonna take off spring break days now if we have off because they've hit the limit of snow days (we're already done June 25th, bleh).

Mom and dad getting pissed for a bit there that the report card said "failed to turn in major assessment", although it was really some dumb invitation project that I didn't feel like doing over break. Last time it caused me to fail a class and I regret it but I maintain a 87 in Spanish and my teacher said I'm progressing well from the last benchmarks (88 - 94?). As long as I get an 80 or above on the final two benchmarks, I'll pass easily.

I don't have to make up snow days this year :}

Also, we had a fire problem as well, someone was setting fires in the trash cans in the bathrooms, we had two in one day once, it was obnoxious

today we all piled into school and then six minutes after the first class started it was announced that there was a gas leak and we all had to leave the building

it was the stupidest shit ever because they let us back in about 10 minutes later

Holy crap, you get out June 25th?

We had a fire drill when it was below zero earlier this year... assholes.
