Hit my first high and probably last high school home run on Thursday in the district semifinals. Then got a 4 out save in the distinct final that we won 4-1 on Friday!

dingers are weak

the real challenge is grounding out to 2nd base, now that takes skill

(also fun fact my C in accounting got curved up to a B- so that's Lit)

Principles of Microeconomics (ECON 2010): A -- This was one of my easiest classes, surprisingly. Didn't need a book for the class (yay), and the lectures were entertaining. Heck, sometimes my prof would act out so much on one of his tangents, he would practically turn red, and he was quick with a joke, too. Very fun class, glad I got an A in it.

Hey, I'm taking micro right now. I love economics, probably going to end up going for a master's in it.

Got a hit off of a Dallas Baptist commit last night! It was the regional semifinal and we won so we're in the regional final next Tuesday and we get to play at FGCU stadium which should be fun.

I was banged up a lot this semester, so I wasn't able to make many of our baseball practices. I'm hoping to continue working on my game over the summer, and hopefully be able to compete for a roster spot in the fall. Our team is actually nationally ranked rn, and is going to make the playoffs, so that's exciting (super bummed that I won't get to be there for any of it :/)

I registered for fall classes already, I'm taking Astronomy, Creative Writing, Business Law, Sport Communication, Sport Enterprise Management, and Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics. 18 hours in total, plus baseball and other commitments, plus possibly getting a job, so that's gonna keep me busy :|

alrighty boyos let's revive this thread

hard to believe i'm already a sophomore in college. in many ways it still feels like i'm 12 or 13, wide-eyed and still eager to learn about the world. which is a very good thing

classes are as follows:

Managing the Sport Enterprise (SPH-M 318, M/W/F 10:10-11:00am, 83.33%) -- This class is pretty solid. If you keep up with the readings and go to class it's not bad at all, but the prof has a really strict attendance/late policy (basically if you're late you get locked out of class and have to talk to her after) but yeah. We're already starting to work on our big group project so that's a thing

Legal Environment of Business (BUS-L 201, M/W 2:30-3:45pm, N/A) -- Honestly just going to class has gotten me by so far. Haven't had any grades yet but we've got an exam on Monday so yeet. Professor is really funny, kind of in that "trying to be relatable to the teens" way but also kind of in a natural way which is cool.

Intro to Sport Communication (SPH-C 213, M 5:45-8:15pm, 85%) -- Ohhhhh my god this class is *(censored)* terrible in terms of timing, but as a class it's actually rather easy. We have quizzes every week at the start of class, and class is usually broken up with one or two breaks, so that's nice. Prof gets off on all these weird tangents but it's cool.

Fiction and Poetry (ENG-W 203, Tu/Th 9:30-10:45am, N/A) -- This is a really fun class. It's really loosely/independently structured as far as outside of class work goes (basically, we have to turn in 7 assignments for workshop throughout the semester, but with no set dates for each assignment, and then later have to revise those for a portfolio and also write a critical essay at the end.) and we're about to have some guest speakers (local poets n writers n stuff) come in and talk about their work and possibly even look at our work??? It's also a nine-person class so that's neat

Issues: Intercollegiate Athletics (SPH-M 328, Tu/Th 1:00-2:15pm, N/A) -- Also a really fun class. Professor is super chill, though he can be confusing at times. We have an online discussion forum that we have to post on every week, which is actually a really cool way to get insight from a very diverse group of students (including at least 5 football players and 2 basketball players) and create interesting discussions based on current issues related to college sports. believe we have an exam next week but i'm not 1000000% sure of that.

Stars and Galaxies (AST-A 105, Tu/Th 2:30-3:45pm, 50%) -- YIKES i'm failing rn but we had an exam today so hopefully! that goes up after this. Prof is kinda weird but definitely knows his stuff and tries to help us out in terms of highlighting what's really important to know (actually all my profs this semester are) and the material is really cool n interesting and i'm goin through a major Space Phase

And, of course, there's my position on the IU Club Baseball team. I spent a lot of time this summer working on my pitching and hitting in hopes of becoming a key contributor (or at least making the travel roster) this year, however at tryouts I bombed my pitching audition and struggled in batting practice. My defense in left field was okay, but I was informed that I did not make the travel team for the fall. My hope is that I can put in the work at practices and possibly be able to play in our home series (since I do still get to go to those) but that was not the start to the season I had hoped for :/

How are y'all's classes n shit going?

My classes are:

Pacific Seminar: Which is basically a college writing course with stuff mixed in about what makes a society good.

Developmental Psychology: Pretty understandable

Legal and Ethical Environment of Business: Business and law mixed, really boring.

Intro to Sports Management: Extremely fun

And then college baseball is going pretty well. I have thrown 2 flat grounds so far and we start bullpens next week. There are only 13 pitchers on the team, and only one other lefty besides me, so I should get a decent amount of innings this year.

get that LOOGY role, dawg

lmao we're taking basically the same class (business law) and i've also taken intro to sports management and a psych class lmao

good luck with everything this year! freshman year can be a hell of a rollercoaster ride at times, but it's definitely a crucial time to make those lasting friends and memories!

Yeah its been real fun so far. But I'd rather not be a lefty specialist. My goal is to be the weekday starter by the end of the year. And I really think I can compete for that spot.
