Good news: School went well. First class was with my favorite teacher, made a really good first impression on the chemistry teacher and I'm in Japanese 4 with almost all the kids I was in Japanese 3 with.

Bad news: I might have to have a textbook for all 4 classes on B Day... I'm going to pray that I can actually use my locker this year. I could've sworn my locker last year was broken...

Are you in high school? If so me too! :D
But. Japanese in high school (if you're in it) is awesome! :DD

I'm a sophomore, yeah.
I took two years in middle school, and this is my fourth and final year. Hoping it won't be as hard as last year...

Wow, you're lucky to have a Japanese course in both Middle School and in High School..........

We don't have Japanese at all! Just Spanish and Norwegian.

Why does it matter if they are popular?

They wouldn't be popular if they weren't hot, Mr. Cynical!

Fitting in is for losers, and it's overrated.
Seriously, just be yourself, don't get involved in all the cliques and stuff. The camaraderie of being popular is nothing compared to the camaraderie of having actual friends.

And yeah, my middle school had Latin, Spanish, French and Japanese.
My high school, however, has Latin, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Russian, Mandarin and Arabic. It's actually a special program, so it has mroe options for languages and all.
Of course, if they had Portuguese, I'd take that instead of Arabic for sure.

That's why I put the  after Norwegian. Geography is my favorite class, but I get homework every night in that class! It stinks.

^This is true.
True friends are better than popularity any day. :)

My school starts a week from tomorrow! That's good and bad. I hope I can get some of my friends and some hot girls. Well, if anyone has any advice on 7th grade (my grade), I'd love to hear it. :DD

-maccrash21 :yay:

I learned this from experience last year when I didn't quite understand how things work. Let's set up the situation. I approach the cutest, most popular girl in the grade. I don't know her that well, and all she knows is my name.

Well, the first two days of school have been good. Long and exhausting, but good. It's all been games and stuff so far. Regular classes start tomorrow.

Today was our first cross country practice during school time, (We had had practices over the summer) and I ran six miles today. I've never run that far before in my life.

Lunch time this year is back up to a full hour (from 45 minutes), school ends 5 minutes later and I think it starts earlier too but I go early anyway so I don't think it'll make too much of a difference.

Classes are something like this for this term:

Math
Study Hall / Guided Study
French
Modern History
Lunch
More Math
Homeroom
English

Those people that actually get a choice in what language classes to take are so lucky.

Also, just a note, back in grade 6 or 7 (I was in mixed classes with a grade higher), there were 2 or 3 popular girls. All of them have failed at least one class by now. I know one of them failed the same class twice.

Why is everyone popular an idiot anyway (not saying you have to be an idiot to fail a class, but you can't exactly be a genius)? Just seems like a general rule, one of them last year thought the word biased was a misspelling of the word based, even though it would make no sense in that sentence. They also proceeded to horribly mispronounce the word while everybody in the class was trying not to laugh.

Also, I'm a bit worried about Modern History, I barely passed Social Studies last year, and half of the Modern History class last year failed. Honestly, when I walked in I wasn't sure I was in the right class because half the people were in grade 12.

Really? At my school, the most popular girl last year in 8th (metioned her 2-3 posts ago) won student of the year.

School's going pretty well for me minus the ginormous Homework load coming in from ELA and Geometry. Our new band director that replaced our amazing one because he went to get a docorate in Music is alright, he just doesn't get that Trombones (like me) have a hard time playing 16th notes in different positions.

Fortunately...first day wasn't bad for me. Unfortunately...I'm the most socially awkward person I know. Thank you, Facebook, for making me believe that people care about me.
