I realize it, I just think it's kind of ridiculous you guys would have two holidays so close to each other (christmas and thanksgiving)

But I didn't study American History so maybe there's some historical reason that it's so late in the year.

After some research (which is sad since I should already know this) the reason Americans celebrate Thanksgiving in November is that Abraham Lincoln (our 16th president I think) decided Thanksgiving was to be celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. Around the time when the first one was clebrated.

Class dismissed.

Although the birth of Jesus, according to the Bible was actually around summer time. And I think the reason it was decided to be in December was beacause we didn't have any other holidays that time of year.

We studied a lot last year at my school and I remember absolutely nothing about it,besides what you just said.

Christmas was placed in December to align with an existing Pagan holiday in order to encourage more people to convert to Christianity.
