Remember to do your best to keep your characters secret, especially with how crowded the infield is! And as I said, all decisions will be made through PM, so those of you controlling the former seven will be sending your decisions to me, and those of you controlling the latter seven will be sending your decisions to ppfan.

I recognize four names, including my own

I don't see why keeping our characters secret is so important. Why does it matter if people know who I have?

If I knew we were going to keep the characters secret, I'd have named mine something different

Admittedly, it should have been mentioned sooner.

Skittle, if you don't want to keep it anonymous that's fine, but we thought it seemed like a fun idea that could have some other benefits depending on how the story develops.

“Shit.”

Yates Douglas turned on his heels and ran. Tracking the ball with every step, Douglas chased after the ball, which seemed to pick up velocity as it went. Even with his speed, he and everyone else at AT&T Field knew he was never going to catch this one. The ball was hooking, away from Douglas and toward left-center. It caromed off the base of the advertisement-lined outfield wall, and Yates saw his teammate Robert Tomlinson out of the corner of his eye. Douglas, the faster of the two by a hair, reached the ball first and spun to grab it with his left hand and throw it to shortstop Danilo Ribeiro on a hop. Out in left field, a bright number two appeared on the scoreboard.

Booker DeWitt spat into the dirt behind home plate before making his way back toward the mound. Ribeiro, who was now walking the ball in, looked to the third base side dugout, and DeWitt followed his line of sight to see Desmond Jacobs strolling onto the field.

“*(censored)*.”

Ribeiro tossed the ball to DeWitt, who wasted no time offering it to Jacobs while staring into the trees over the outfield wall.

"That was a shit pitch, DeWitt."
“Don’t I *(censored)* know it.”
"At least we're on the same page. You're all done, kiddo."

The 27-year old DeWitt flinched at the nickname, but Jacobs took the ball from his outstretched hand, and he strutted off the field and into the dugout.

“Good pitching, Booker,” offered a teammate.
“Save it.”

DeWitt disappeared into the clubhouse, from which expletives could be heard echoing off the concrete walls.

Drungo Hazewood, who had now reached the mound from the bullpen, received the ball from Jacobs, who was by no means made less intimidating by the former’s 6’4”, 230 pound frame.

“Go get ‘em, Luis.”

Drungo grunted at the use of his real name as Jacobs left the field. Hazewood wasted no time, challenging the next hitter with two fastballs up and in, collecting two swings and misses. After wasting a slider in the dirt, he came right back to the fastball, making the Jacksonville Suns’ 9-hitter look silly and retiring the side with a 4-3 lead intact.

The first update is quite lengthy, so it's broken up into three parts. Expect parts two and three later tonight.

This looks pretty good so far. Can't wait for the next parts!
