With the new slew of activity, I feel that now would be the time to get an active moderator.

There have been a lot of misplaced topics, etc. that need moderating, and I know that it doesn't carry the same message when a regular member back-seat moderates than when an actual moderator actually moderates.

If this idea does go through, I'd be more than happy to help this site out and apply for the position.

Mac, if we were to get a new mod, it would probably be dish. Or sjax

Sorry.

I do think we need one though

Yeah. I don't think we'll get one. We've asked before. There are worthy people like sjax and dish, but they haven't gotten the nod. It is just like last summer. New members will get used to the place soon enough.

I'm used to it already! And I've only been here a month!

Are you just echoing those names, or does anybody actually have a good reason for those particular suggestions? Actually I'd listen to any reason right now.

Actually, you got me. I don't really know. Experience? Dish is willing to do it. I really don't think we'll get a new one anyway.

Yeah, that's why I said them, experience.

More so it would work with dish currently, since he's active.

I don't care who does it, I just think we need one. :P

I agree... it's quite amazing that this forum has survived so long despite 2K Sports' collective ADD equaling no more MLBPP games in America after just the two, and I do feel like having a new mod would be nice, not to mention a change of pace in some aspects. Plus, as far as I can remember there hasn't been a new addition to the staff... ever, really.

Dish would probably be a better choice over me, though, to be honest. I have experience and whatnot, but so does he, and his activity is definitely a ways beyond mine at this point (though I do lurk a lot).

I know no active members would remember the last time the staff was ever changed on this forum.

I'm pretty sure as it stands I'm one of, if not the oldest (in terms of time joined, not actual age, though I wouldn't exactly be one of the youngest in actual age either) member that's still active today. And all the mods were the same when I joined as they are now.

The staff was never changed on this forum so that would explain why no one has ever noticed.

I'm going to create a thread in this subforum for a "Community Manager", someone voted in or appointed to the position that is the liaison for keeping the peace around here. Use this thread to nominate candidates, and they will be include in the poll. Write-ins accepted as well.

I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but what would be considered "keeping the peace" in your mind?

Post subject:  Re: Active Moderator

Members of the community feel that newer members may need a bit of 'official' herding along when it comes to using the forums, such as bumping dead topics, keeping posts informative and not wasteful (one word responses, etc.), not quite a moderator per se, but a community-voted person who display the ability to do this task in a friendly but effective way.

I'd be more than happy to do it, even though some of my posts here might be kind of spammy on occasion I do have experience moderating and administrating forums. I know what needs to be done to maintain a healthy balance.

I'd also nominate dish to do it.
