Yeah, I'm suggesting a return to my favorite game of all time in 2014. As fans, we must come up with a way to save Power Pros. So let's start with ideas!

Trust me, we've tried. The fan base is just too small

How successful were Power Pros 2007 and 2008?

Not enough. I believe they maybe sold 300-400K each

Sorry to bother you, but is 300-400K considered successful (or moderately successful) in the gaming industry? I'm not sure. Also, how much did 2K7 and 2K8 make?

It's no problem. But 300K is typically considered a failure. Maybe for a game like this, that number was decent, but not good enough to warrant a second sequel. The reason MLBPP09 was not released in America (despite the fact that it had already been made) was so they could focus on The Bigs 2. And while that game is awful, it nearly sold a million copies.

Also, it should be noted that these numbers come from VGChartz. While they are not as reliable as people would like, it's all we have to go off of. Plus, they're usually pretty close anyways.

According to the website you just mentioned, MLB 2K8 was extremely similar in sales to the Power Pros games. All we have to do is advertise them better. Might not happen, but we can always try.

Actually, it has 2K8 clocking in at about 1.2 million. Realistic games just sell better. People will see the huge heads, lack of arms, legs, mouths, noses, ears, and fingers, and just walk by. From a business sense, it makes sense to market the 2K games heavily. Those games can't hold a candle to Power Pros in terms of quality, but they bring in so much more money.

Interesting, because when I'm on the site, it has both games listed as selling 0.13m units.

I see, I was only counting Wii sales. However, was Power Pros discontinued because of poor sales or because the Bigs 2 was coming out? Also, if the original Power Pros had bad sales, why was a sequel created? (I'm not complaining, trust me)

I would imagine they were both factors. I'm not sure how it worked out though.

And maybe they wanted to give it another chance? I think that would make the most sense. After a second game with disappointing sales, they just decided to can it.

I'd say for first and second time games on two platforms, the sales weren't bad at all. Maybe if they released the game on the Xbox 360 and PS4 they'd get better sales?

Really the only reasonable way to try to bring back the series is to find some way to become extremely successful and rich, then buy a game company and the rights to make a Power Pros game and set your company to work on it. Even then it might not be that good depending on how good your workers actually are.

I don't know the exact amounts of money it would cost to buy the rights to the game, or buy a game company, but I think either amount would be unreasonable by normal people's standards.

---

Beyond that, all you can do is send messages to 2K about it one way or another, and yeah, we've already tried that.

I just don't see why it was cut in the first place. They gave it a chance and its reviews were extremely positive. I happened to rent '08 and I loved it so much I bought it. Earlier this year, I purchased 2007.
