Post subject:  The Rift and How To Solve It: A Summit

Over the past, let's say, year or so, I, along with a lot of other people, have noticed that there is a bit of a rift or division between some of the more established members of the forum and the newer members that we have gotten. This rift has caused numerous debates, fights, and drama in the forum, and I feel that it is not healthy for the growth of this forum. In my view, this is because everyone has different opinions and tastes that one or both of the established and new member groups have problems with. I'll admit that I've been a part of this rift as well, and as a mod, that is unacceptable for someone in my position to do.

This topic exists to try to peacefully and rationally discuss how to solve the ever-growing divide between the established members and newer members, and how we can improve as a forum. I don't want to see any full-blown fights in this topic, however debate and discussion is encouraged. I want to know how we can get along on this forum, and try to make this community more accepting to new members. I want this Community Summit to help encourage growth in how we view each other and how we can improve.

I think that could be easily surmised?

My thoughts on this are that the "established members" are ones that have been around for at least 2.5-3 years or more, and the "newer" members are the ones who have joined in the last couple years. Those are my initial thoughts on this, however, I'm open to a bit more interpretation on this.

Established members in my opinion are Dish, Brewers, and Skittles. Newer members are like you and me.

Aren't we all members of a forum for an old baseball game? We need to worry about who's ESTABLISHED or not? Can't we all just get along

Not that I'm establised tho

Btw I vote jag for king and all-time ruler

IMO here's a list of who I would consider an "established member":

dishnet34, detroittigers15, Powerprosfan31, PowerPro Jr, SkittleMonster, BrewersFuzz, myself, philliesfan134, Paul McCartney15, maccrash21, jag123jg

anyone else would be a "newer" member, including

Power Pros 27, RANGERSMVP11, LetsGoMets77, SpastikMooss, TheRosterMaster, GoTwins24, etc.

I'm not sure about guys like ZeroGibson13 or Prediction but I think everyone else should fit into those two categories

I think jag was the last "new" member, but I respect him enough to consider him established. Zero and Prediction would probably fall in the first category for me too.

How would Prediction be "established" and I be new. I joined like 4 months after him 2 years ago.

holy shit wow it's been almost 2.5 years since then, crazy stuff.

I've noticed this with my gas attendant job (not working there for the summer). When a new guy is hired he would have that "new guy flame" and volunteers to take each car that pulls in. I was like that when I started then after a few weeks I got used to it stopped with trying to take every car. I also did it here on the forum when I started; I would create a new thread each day or write in a thread that hasn't had activity in over 2 years. It seems to happen with almost every new member, which is okay! because we notify them about reviving dead threads and they halt with that. I've never really minded it because I was like that at one point (obviously if they continue to do it on purpose then that's a problem). Now then, it seems like a few people have been acting like hot-shots over the past few weeks which is stirring up the mess; that's what I've narrowed the problem down to. I don't want to mention names but maybe we'll have to discuss it with those members later on. I'm not certain if these events have happened in the past (before I joined). Because if it did then the older members that have experienced it would probably know how to settle this. It doesn't seem like this has happened before (at this hostility level), so that's why it seems like nothing has been solved yet.

It's been really bad before, like that one November with what I think was Ham Bone controversy. But nothing has ever gotten forum-breaking where someone was banned forever and never came back.

I wouldn't necessarily make him king, but he does deserve to be recognized for his work on here.

He shouldn't be king cause then we may start a revolution and overthrow him
