I'm assuming all PWs for 2007 won't work in the new game coming out. The developers will more than likely change some of the ability names and add/take away some abilities in an attempt to keep things fresh. Has anyone heard a final word on this?

i think that mrsims is right. I bet that there won't be backwards compatibility between 2007 and 2008. I wonder if there will be compatibility between the PS2 and Wii versions.

I seriously hope so metsandsanta. I've made about 7-8 solid players and there are so few PS2 users around that I'm not even sure anyone would use them. On the other hand, there are a ton of passwords from the Wii I'd like to try(Fukudome!) and can't.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for this, and maybe some DS/Wii sharing, at least then I could use it.

Backwards would be nice, but then again it would give me an excuse to keep playing the new game.

But then all the rest would seem like a waste of time.
I wish it had another option like NBA 2K8 - where you just directly create a new player - without editing another - and somehow use IPA symbols to enter the pronunciation.

Power Pros comes out twice a year in Japan, the first in July with opening day rosters and the second with finalized rosters after season's end. PW compatibility is preserved between those two releases but not between different years.

Along with lack of online roster updates, I guess Konami sees it as a way to give users a reason to play more Success Mode. What 2K Sports could do though, even if there is no built-in compatibility, is make a free password converter available on their site.

As for abilities, I wouldn't expect drastic changes.

I asked the questions about passwords on the 2K Sports forums, hopefully they'll answer when they can. Even if the abilities change and some 2007 abilities aren't in 2008, they could still with have the abilities listed but not actually do anything or just strip the obsolete abilities during the import.

I'll be extremely disappointed if 2007 created players can't be added to 2008 Season Mode arrange teams. It won't affect me buying the game or anything, but I guarantee it will be a demotivating factor in me spending as much time creating new players. In other words, I most likely wouldn't invest anywhere near as much time in Success Mode in the 2008 game as I have in 2007.

I don't expect major changes either, but a little tweaking here and there would be enough to make previous PWs incompatible.

I totally expect that the passwords will not be compatible. But I love success mode so I don't mind too much. Although I don't have hundreds of guys like some.

As for remaking players, I think with all of our knowledge of success mode 2007, we should be able to produce a lot of the average players fairly easily even without knowing the new "tweeks". And once we learn those, we'll be popping out Intimidators in no time.

If just a few of us get together and trade a few players we could have a full roster pretty quickly. And on to season mode.

I wonder if the starting stats will have any changes, and if Geniuses will still be play.

Well to avoid confusion they might be called "Prodigy" because thats what they originally meant.
I wonder who the new characters are...will we see a repeat of Becky/Annie/Sarah (or at least similar personalties)?
