I'm wondering if the confusion is coming because of the DS having a different (later) release date than the Wii/PS2? From the beginning the Wii/PS2 was July 29, with the DS to follow in the fall (presumably Sept/Oct). So it is entirely possible that places like Gamestop took the DS date and assumed that all versions were coming out then.

I think you're right Wyl. The Official 2k site says "Coming in July." while the the say "This Fall" for the DS version.

Does the 2008 version have auto updating rosters?

I doubt this but if it doesn't have this we're going to have to spend $40 every year.

I wouldn't mind buying it every year so long as success mode changes enough to make it interesting.

Millions of people in Japan buy it every year so I'm sure it'll be worth it. I do hope they'll introduce online updates though. It'd be great especially for trades and call-ups

I just pre-ordered my copy, first time ever doing so, at Gamestop said on the 29th they will have it.

I would keep buying a new version each year if they keep making My Life and Success mode better.

It is going to be intresting to see exactly how much differance one person can make to a team. Put yourself on KC and see if you turn them around!

Yep, roster updates are nice but fairly far down on my priority list. I'll buy the game every year as long as they keep making new success mode stories and the changes in my life and such are compelling enough.

I lucked out, I thought I was going to get stuck in an Exchange 2007 training class the week of the 28th, but it looks like that got bumped up to the week of the 21st instead - I mean, how can I take the release date off to play PowerPros all day if I'm in training? Sheesh! :D

Don't sweat it too much, I will get the game when it comes out but a lot of my time is going to be eaten up with soccer coaching 2x a week and kids swimming leasons...add in cooking, cleaning, working....it could be a few days before I may even open it let alone get something seriously started.

Maybe since it'll be so long before I can get it someone can advise me on whether to get the Wii or PS2 version.

Since they haven't mentioned it as a feature, I'd assume PS2 and Wii passwords will be incompatible again this year. So that's one determining factor, there are quite a few more lightsiders (Wii) posting Success Mode players than darksiders (PS2)

The other is whether the motion controls matter to you at all. While we can't play the main modes with motion control (and I wouldn't want to), I *do* enjoy some homerun derby with the kids every now and then. Standing up and swinging the Wiimote like a bat is MUCH more satisfying and fun than the classic controller/GCN/PS2 controller method. Whether that is worth $10 to you over the course of a year though is up to you.

That's pretty much all it comes down to really.
