Allright, I may be a Yankee fan, but I say "WHAT!!!" to the idea of Elsbury with C speed. He may be (ichiro probably is, but he's just over his prime) the fastest active player. Give him at least average contact, as much as I hate to admit it, the guy gets a lot of hits. Of course the other rookies who are from Japan will have all As. Now that I see this I.m worried about Joba.

I assume the C was based on opening day. Elsbury was too unproven at that point to get a high run speed.

Hopefully but based upon his performance so far this year I think it is only fair to agree on some sort of norm upon which to edit him to his speed is the main thing here C contact might not be that bed he is only hitting .275 as of right now

anyone with me on this

Houston's Michael Bourne might have something to say about the fastest player in the game :)

Ellsbury is fast but I wouldn't say he is electrifyingly fast. He is a great base stealer, but stealing bases is a lot more than just raw speed. I'd have given him a 13/14 on RUN SPD, and I think a C (11) for CON is about right. Don't forget, C is "average major leaguer," which is hardly an insult to a rookie.

Agreed Pedrioa was given G contact in '07

I thought the manual said a 'D' was supposed to be average?

I think Joey Gathright will also have a 15 speed or atleast he probably should.

Remember, the "committee" that ranks the players for the game may have done the rankings around opening day. It's simply too much to ask them to wait until say, 3 months into the season, and come up with data. It takes almost that long for them to send the final DVD to be checked, stamped and packaged and be ready for distribution.

I expect rookies to have below average stats with 1 or 2 at C or better.

I don't think it is too much in this day and age to be able to read a scouting report on rookies. It's not like the information isn't available. I think it is more that Konami doesn't care enough to devote the resources towards it. According to something I read on another site, Konami only had one person doing player grading for 2007. It's little wonder so many are off :)

8 home runs usually entitles High D to Low C power stats just sayin

Regarding Gathright & minor league scouting reports: It's not good enough to have tools, you have to put them to use and get results at the big league level. No matter how fast a player can round the bases, or how many lbs he can bench press, he won't get an "A" Run Speed or Power unless he actually steal lots of bases or hit a ton of homers. At least that's how I think the rating system works for this game.

yeah i know, but it's kind of weird how they gave him B power...

i may have to make him like i did in this year's power pros to put his power down and contact/fielding up
