Any idea on how updated the roster will be for 08? Will be from the start of springtraining or from opening day of this year? It did look like Santana was on the Mets in the trailer.
From a post I made on another board about the game;

Well, based on this screencap from a video on IGN, it looks like the rosters are going to be up-to-date to the middle of April at the very least.

The player I have highlighted, Jed Lowrie, didn't make his ML debut with the BoSox until April 15th and also wasn't on the opening day roster -- Japan Series or otherwise.

So, here's a short list of some impact rookies who made their debut prior to then, who could possibly already be on the game:

Gregor Blanco, ATL
Brian Bocock, SFG
Blake DeWitt, LAD
Kosuke Fukudome, CHC
Alexei Ramirez, CHW
Clete Thomas, DET
Wesley Wright, HOU (confirmed in another video)
Brian Barton, STL
Kyle McClellen, STL
Jayson Nix, COL
Matt Tolbert, MIN
Masahide Kobayashi, CLE
Alex Romero, ARI
Callix Crabbe, SDP
Johnny Cueto, CIN
Hiroki Kuroda, LAD
Denard Span, MIN
Burke Badenhop, FLA
Greg Smith, OAK
Evan Longoria, TBR
Jed Lowrie, BOS (confirmed)

Guess we'll just have to see on players like Justin Masterson, Brent Lillibridge, Brandon Boggs and Max Scherzer, who made their debut from the middle of April to the end of the month.

Really wouldn't expect anyone after May 1st though, so looks like no Clayton Kershaw, Charlie Morton or Max Ramirez.

Wow you really got that covered nice job

does anyone have any idea when Votto/Janish or any other good rookies made the debut

I wouldn't call Janish good...but I think as players made their debut they might have added some of them to the minor league roster, it's a no brainer for any player who had ML service last year they will 99%(probably 100% actually) be on the new game, fontenot + soto isn't even a question.

I don't really see why there would be any doubt either would be in the game, both made their debuts in 2005.

I'm a big Rice fan as well so that's why I like him(and Lance Berkman too!)

Yeah, the only thing he did that impressed me with the bat(that I can remember) is when he hit the walk off hit in his first ML game. I watch almost all the reds games, but I don't really pay much attention to how good someone is at defense, unless they just keep making great plays(Brandon Phillips, Edwin makes some nice diving plays but he is definitely error prone) or they just keep botching the ball(Edwin sometimes).

Yeah, I'm not really surprised either, but I'm just glad they're in now, can't wait to see their abilities.
