So I'm finishing up a roster update for y'all and was about to calculate Clutch ratings when I noticed that Mike Trout, over the last calendar year, has THE lowest clutch rating of any player in baseball per FanGraphs. I know the two clutch ratings are different (MLBPP Clutch = RISP; FanGraphs Clutch = high leverage situations), but I still incorporate standard clutch rating into my formula. MLBPP's Clutch ability is quite powerful, especially when simulating . . . so what should I do with Mike Trout, he of the soon-to-be consecutive 10 WAR seasons: give him Clutch 1 and destroy his ability w/RISP? Or ignore it and create a formula strictly based on RISP?

Hmm...that's quite a predicament you got there, Eric.

I think that using a formula based strictly on RISP would make more sense, since it's originally what the game used for clutch. What would be the negatives for using the RISP formula, however? For instance, which players would suffer the most from this change?

Fixed. Subtracted wOBA, wRC+ and RBI from wOBA, wRC+ and RBI w/RISP. Trout is still below average but comes out neutral overall.

Yeah, that sounds a bit better.

in my opinion, you should go by RISP for clutch, and the walk-off ability should be based on "high leverage situations" even though it's only for walk-offs
