I do not know if this was brought up before, but does a pitcher's top speed actually have an effect on how good they are?
I never really paid attention to it.

Yeah, it definitely does. Pitchers with low top speed always get rocked in season mode. In my roster update, R.A. Dickey always ends up with a 6+ ERA.

oh I see, i could see a trend, but I didn't want to come to a conclusion on it

If you take a player with top speed but nothing else - I made a guy named Marty Stone on the wiki, his top speed was 102/103 but he had NO control, no stamina, and just a few tiny breaking pitches - he does quite well over the season. Not many guys can catch up to the heater, and it makes a crappy changeup all the more effective.
