Yes, because we can make a Japanese game with Japanese teams into a new MLB Power Pros

Even if we couldn't, why so negative? Try being supportive.

90% of the effort is in gameplay. Code around roster setup, FAs, trading, bids, etc. All that is still there, improved, in the series.

Creating a US version would basically be taking that codebase, and then
1) MLB licensing for names, teams, stadiums, etc again (most of them are in the old file and can be dusted off and updated in like a day)
2) MLB roster creation (names/abilities/appearances, just swapping in that data file in place of the Japanese rosters)
3) Translation and voice-overs. this is where Jack Merluzzi or someone like that records English equivalents for all the names, play by play announcements, and someone translates all the text for each mode (sometimes badly, haha). And some of this can be re-used, both from MLBPP08 and from the WBC versions they'v produced.

Seriously, how much work is that? I feel like 1) is a big expense, 2) is a 2-3 month effort, and 3) can be done in a few weeks.

Then you QA the product for a few weeks on each platform, and boom, ready to be produced. So a 4-5 month project timeline, some contract workers make $500k maybe. That's a tiny investment.

I know it hasn't happened, and there's no word of it ever happening, but this doesn't seem like a hopeless case. All that has to happen is some game exec needs to be convinced that the profits of a new US version would outweigh the costs of 1 thru 3 above. With #1 probably being royally offing expensive, that's tough to do - but an active community like ours can only help. If a potential US version is kicked about, having a dedicated fan base like this community, who will not only pre-order/kickstart such a game, but will happily supply all the data needed for #2 above free of charge, is a HUGE data point. And we're hitting new levels of activity, really - in player creation, active users, new users, etc. That's a pretty amazing thing for a game that was obsolete 6 years ago.

I think the odds of it happening are good, and Konami and whoever else just needs to have their face rubbed in this opportunity. Ive tried my development contacts, but other than that, a big ole' petition can certainly be a useful tool. I mean, would anyone here be upset with a 2016 MLBPP game hitting PS4 or Xbox one or Wii U? God I hope not.

Either help, or be quiet. No reason to pee on everyone's birthday cake here, cmon. :)

Let's just focus on updating rosters for next year, if that's a success and gains popularity, then we'll see about a new mlb pp

I LOVE MLB Power Pros. I'm pissed how it's not back yet. BRING IT BACK KONAMI!
