From what I've read in scouting reports and seen watching him play, he should have a closed stance (slightly closed, not quite full closed or standard), Spray Hitter, High C/Low B power, E 7 speed, B/B/B fielding skills as he is called an elite defensive catcher by most reports, adding in good catcher and good block.

Targets:

Trj 2
Contact E 7/D 8
Power High C/Low B
Run Speed E 7
Arm Strength B 13
Fielding B 12
Error Res B 12

Clutch Hit 4, Throwing 4, Spray Hitter, Good Catcher, Good Block.

Other thoughts?

Here's what I would give him:

2 TRJ-7 CON-125 PWR-6 RUN SPD-11 ARM STR-13 FLD-14 E RES

Clutch Hit 4, Table Setter (.282 avg with none on last year)

Not sure about defensive special abilities.

I would never really give a catcher table setter.

He's actually very good a hitting the ball, it just doesn't go to a spot where he gets on base from it enough. He doesn't swing at bad pitches often and puts the ball in play a lot, just for a poor average last season. He isn't a fast runner, per se, though he isn't particularly slow, either. I think my E 7 in that regard is correct. Spray Hitter comes from one scouting report that I trust that says he hits well to all fields. It also states "He has very compact positioning behind the plate and uses excellent framing abilities to get the most out of his pitchers. Ellis uses good footwork and plus arm accuracy/strength to limit opponent’s base stealing." Hence the Good Catcher and Throwing 4. Good Block is really the only one I gave him I'm not fully sure of.

E run speed is to high, he is 0 for 3 in career stolen base attempts

That's not an accurate analysis of speed. He's not fast, but he's not a sloth.

3 career triples, for example. Somewhere in the E/D range should suit him for speed.

Exactly why I had my original E 7 estimate. I could give him Stealing 2, if I were good at getting abilities, though. But it's probably not necessary.
