I don't usually get 30s or 40s or anything since my control is generally one of the last things I work on but I can get around a 20 every time.

I agree, I suck at them too, but I can get the amount of points if I go a couple times. So for the one that is always going to happen near the end of the first year I make sure I reload a lot until I get a good score.

I'm good at the pitching tests, but I'd rather be good at the batting test, can only get 9 points, even though I hit the ball every time!

Watch how you are hitting the ball. If you go into practice mode and practice hitting, you essentially take a batting test against an MLB pitcher. This will let you know if you are habitually late/early or if you move the cursor too much after the pitcher releases the ball. For the hitting test, I find that if you can't smash home runs each swing, don't bother using Big Swing, you'll pop it up/fly out and get no points. Clean hits are the answer.

Yeah tried that, Right now I'm PO'd at Success mode, more like Failure mode bad for self-esteem.

it happened to me too!
but i'm actually doing well right now. I beat the wildjokers in the second game (redemption for lucy), and I've gotten to the past the water walking test in sittch's arc.
