I would say do the playoffs first. That way you could have commentary about how they performed in the playoffs, especially relative to their regular seasons. (I.e. if your ace went cold in the playoffs, or a bench player went on a big hot streak)

Okay, that sounds like a good idea.

San Jose- Charmy took a deep breath, and buzzed into the batters box. 8-8 score. Bottom of the 13th inning, against Francisco Cordero. Runners on the corners. 0 outs. The fans were screaming. Just put the ball in play Charmy was thinking. Cordero checked Knuckles at third, and Espio at first. He wound up and fired. Charmy didn't hesitate to jump on the first pitch. Crack. The ball took off into right field. Corey Hart shaded under it and made the catch. Now it was Knuckles' turn. He ran towards home. While he wasn't Sonic or Shadow on the basepaths, he knew he had some pretty good speed. "I was running towards home like I ran from King Boom Boo that one time" he said after the game. He slide head first under the tag. "SAFE!" said the home plate umpire. The crowd roared. The Sonics were going to the playoffs.

The 13th inning wan't half the story of game 163. The game looked like a mismatch before it began, with Cy Young contender Ben Sheets going up against Wave the Swallow, who was an inconsistent innings eater. But the Sonics jumped on Sheets early in the first inning, tagging him for 2 runs to make it a 2-0 game. In the bottom of the second, Vector the Crocodile hit a solo shot off the left field foul pole to make it 3-0. However, the Brewers weren't ready to back down, as they batted around in the top of the third, which included a grand slam by Prince Fielder. The Sonics suddenly trailed 5-3. Espio cut the lead to 5-4 with a solo shot off Sheets in the bottom of the 3rd, and then Knuckles tied it with an RBI single in the 5th. In the sixth, Jet the Hawk tripled and scored on Blaze the Cats' sac fly, to give the Sonics back the lead 6-5. Sheets went 6.1 innings, giving up 6 runs, suddenly looking vulnerable against the Sonics' lineup. Up 6-5 in the top of the 8th, Dr. Eggman came on, but with a guy on second and 2 outs, Knuckles misplayed a ball in left, allowing a runner to score to tie it 6-6. Both bullpens shut each other down until the top of the 13th inning, when Fruto, a May addition who pitched surprisingly well for the Sonics crumbled, giving up a two-run shot to J.J. Hardy to make it 8-6. But the Sonics and their fans were not ready to give up hope. They had come too far to lose. Bottom of the 13th. Francisco Cordero, the Brewers dominant closer was on. The Sonics had the top of the lineup up. Blaze the Cat lead off with a double into the gap. Sonic followed with an RBI double of his own, and then Knuckles tied it 8-8 with a triple. Cordero intentionally walked Espio to bring up Charmy, who came through with the walk off sac fly to win the game 9-8. "It's an amazing feeling" said Espio. "We can celebrate now, and then it's time to focus our energy on the playoffs."

Amy is Back!

After what seemed like a season-ending injury just a month ago, Amy Rose has worked her way back to being on the postseason roster. Since she was on the main roster as of August 31, she was able to be put back on after she recovered from her injury. No one was more fired up than the pink hedgehog herself ("I'll wack those snakes with my hammer" she said), and she really will help provide a sparkplug at the top of the lineup, as she hit .320 during the regular season with 33 stolen bases on 42 attempts. Her defense was also very good as well. "We're all glad to have her back for sure" said Espio. With her and Blaze, who was blazing hot (sorry, lame pun) during the NLDS with a .417 average and 1.583 OPS, at the top of the order, the Sonics will be a tall task for the Diamondbacks pitchers to face.
