TRADE ALERT:

The Mets (52-52) and Rays (56-48) have agreed to terms on a player transaction.

The Rays receive - Ryan Garko
The Mets (lmao) receive - Xavier Riley and Kurt Birkins

Riley was the Ray's 2nd round 31st overall (R2/P1) pick back in 2008. It seems that the Rays don't have the room for Riley's potential debut (3rd ranked SP in the Rays' system) within the coming years. The acquisition of Garko seems to be a future move as the Rays will likely need a DH in 2010 since Thomas most likely won't be extended. Garko is currently on the IL (actually was on AAA for the Mets) with a wrist injury and is expected to last there for the remainder of the regular season. He was actually producing very well until a HBP possibly ended his 2009 campaign.
Because the Mets' bats are already stacked, it seems that the 2 pitchers they are getting will help in some low areas.

The Rays took a demoralizing loss to the Yankees. The Rays' pen fell apart in the 8th inning leading to 3 runs on 5 hits. Foulke was left in the 8th in hopes to retire Giambi and Cano (Foulke has Vs Lefty 4). After Cano managed to get on, Percival couldn't seem to have anything go his way. The 4 hits he gave up plated all the Yankee runs that inning as Miller had to come in for a 1 pitch out. It also didn't help that the Rays continue to put up large strikeout numbers (batter-wise) which is why their only offense came from a Zobrist solo shot.

Lowry tossed a gem against the Tigers, striking out 12 and only allowing 1 run. Rays manager probably would've left Lowry in to complete the 9th inning, until Miggy hit a 1-out double off of the starter. Miller easily closed the game. The Rays offense started in common fashion; Crawford getting on then stealing, and eventually being plated home by another hit.

The Rays still remain afloat for the WC/AL East winner position. They face the Yankees and Red Sox in 2 more series each (4 total) for the rest of their schedule. This should make the playoff race interesting.

The Rays out slugged the Bronx Bombers to the score of 6-3. Upton put a 3-run home run on the board during the 3rd inning, Thomas and Zobrist each had their own solo shot in the 8th inning. Giambi joined in and hit a 2-run homer in the 6th, which booted James from his start. The Rays have the best offense and pitching staffs in the AL east but find themselves in 3rd place. With a couple of important series coming up in September the Rays will look to bolster their roster from the call-ups.

The Rays have officially added 7 September call-ups. The new MLB members are:
Scott Dohmann, Chad Orvella, Kyle Synder, Nathan Haynes, Jeff Day, Elliot Johnson, Nate Schierholtz

We expect most of them to remain in a reserve role for the time being

The Rays and Red Sox had a roller coaster of a game; fortunately the Rays came out on top
>Rays take lead (1st time)
>Red Sox tie it
>Rays take lead (2nd time)
>Red Sox tie it
>Rays take lead (3rd time)
>Red Sox tie it
>Rays take lead (4th time)
>Red Sox tie it
>Rays take lead (5th time)

The Rays and Red Sox had 2 home runs each. The Rays 2 best bullpen arms, Miller and Foulke, blew the lead in their own fashion but the Rays fought back each time. Recently, the Rays have been on a tear and have positioned themselves in front of the Red Sox with another 6 games between them.

The Rays beat the Orioles with an offensive burst late in the game. Kazmir shutout the O's in 7.1 IP, Foulke and Mulder finished the rest. The first 4 innings were a little rough for Kazmir as he gave up 2 hits in 3 of the first 4 frames (with 1 hit in the other). After the 4th inning, the O's were no-hit by the 3 pitcher committee. Even though the Rays really woke up late, Guthrie's performance was also great.

With the win, the Rays and Yankees have both clinched playoff berths; last thing to conclude will be to see which team wins the Division title giving the other the Wild Card spot.

The regular season has concluded. The Rays managed to win the division on the very last day of the season.
Below are the final stats from the season along with the playoff layout of the Rays' roster.

The Rays have swept the Mariners' in the ALDS. The Rays inked the score board early in Game 3 and never gave up the lead since. Smoltz pitched beautifully as Percival and Foulke ate the rest of the innings. (tbh i forgot to pause the game in the 8th inning when i took a bathroom break which is why Miller didnt close).

Post upload info: The Yankees won their series and the Rays will now face off against their division rival in the ALCS. Kazmir will look to start game 1.

The Yankees have forced a game 7 of the ALCS against the Rays. The Yankees' bats did damage early with a lot of fire power. All 6 runs in the first half of the game were credited to Shields as he couldn't contain the Yankees. The Rays were slowing crawling back when Miller gave up another 2 runs in the 9th to douse the Rays' morale. Because Smoltz is still on a rest schedule, the Rays will elect Kazmir to take the hill for the Rays in the Winner-Take-All game; Pavano was named as the opposition's starter.

The Rays bested the Yankees and are now heading back to the World Series for the 2nd consecutive year! Even though the Yankees scored 3 runs, it shouldn't take away from the dominate performance of the Rays' pitching staff; a whopping 17 K's even with 0 coming from Miller - who pitched the whole 9th. Damon was the only Yankee to not succumb to the strikeout as his performance in this ALCS was incredible. Thomas started the scoring train with a 2-run moon shot to left field. Votto continued the trend 2 innings later with a 3-run home run.

The Rays will be considered the away team for the fall classic as the NL won the All-Star Game back in July. The Rays have announced Smoltz to be their Game 1 Starter and the Mets have submitted Daniel Cabrera as their own.

yeah all these Watch Game simulations have been reliant on the strikeout for literally 50%+ of the total outs. kinda upsetting in some sense. also walks being non-existent.
