he was actually there twice. in late June and just now; thought about picking him up before but wanted to see who else the CPU wouldve dropped. next few years should be crazy with top-players being released since the game doesnt know how to manage a roster

The Rays have now completed a 3rd trade. The Rockies (47-47) sit in 3rd place of the NL West. The Rays (52-41) are receiving:

Jermaine Dye - 1y/6910
Geoff Geary - 1y/2960
and the Rockies will be receiving
Michael Bourn - 4y/4500 (4 years left on a 5 year deal)
Elliot Johnson - 1y/3000
Andres Fruto - 1y/700
.
After winning the NL west 2 seasons ago, the Rockies have been hovering around .500 over the past season and a half (won WS in 2013). This is more of a quick reload for them since they have 3 new players with 2 or more years of control. Dye has been incredible so far, hopefully he can continue with his bat outside of Coors as he should be the 3 hole hitter for the team. Geary and Quintanilla will also be on the MLB roster.

The Rays hit 2 HR for a win against the White Sox, 4-2. The resurgent Carlos Pena hit his 28th of the season and Cano with his 9th. Kershaw was a little shaky in his first couple of starts but settled down in this one with 11 K.

ngl for the past 2 games i zoned out and forgot to put affeldt in for the entire 9th inning, which is why he got 2 (two) .2 IP saves recently.

The Rays came out on top in a slug fest against the Yankees. After having a 3 run lead from Dye's HR, the Rays' pitching staff couldn't stop the Yankees as they scored 7 runs in the 5th inning. The Rays had their own onslaught as they plated 5 in the inning after to regain the lead. Similar outcome in the 8th inning; the Yankees took the lead back and the Rays tied it again. Pena ended the game in the 11th with a walk-off hit.

We almost had a double CG duel but Maholm gave up 3 runs in the 9th inning to get himself pulled from the game. Shields on the other hand fancied himself to a 11K CG SO for his 11th win of the season. 3 teams - Rays, Yankees, and Blue Jays (arguably the Red Sox) - are within striking distance of the AL East division lead. This September should be a fun one.

A lower hit-count total than most of the games, but the Rays used 2 HR to beat the Red Sox: 4-2. Dye's 2-run HR in the 3rd swapped the lead and Cust added to it in the 6th with a solo HR. After that the back end of the bullpen shut things down. The Rays have 2 series with the Yankees in the next few weeks, those are going to be important if either team wants the division title.

27 up and 27 down, a perfect game for Kazmir! The first perfect game in franchise history too. With 15 K's, Kazmir made the O's struggle to find any contact. Cust hit a mammoth HR in the 6th inning which hit the furthest catwalk away from the plate. A much needed win as the Rays look to lock down the division title for the playoffs.

The Rays have defeated the Athletics and will now face the Tigers in the ALCS. The Rays demolished Oakland beating them 11-0 with a shutout performance from the Rays' pitchers. A quick 3-0 sweep and Kazmir will lineup for Game 1 again.

The Tigers have beaten the Rays in the ALCS and move on to the World Series against the Marlins. The Tigers chipped their way back with 1 run at a time but the Rays' bullpen wasn't strong enough.
Unfortunately after the game, Andrew Miller had elbow soreness and it was revealed to be a torn UCL. He is expected to have Tommy John surgery within the next 2 days, putting his 2015 season in jeopardy. He is a FA this season so that'll affect any contract he receives.

After the Tigers went on to win the World Series, the Rays came away with 10 award winners.
Along with no player - from the Rays - has posted their retirement so the same roster will carryover into contract negotiations.

The 10 awards are:

Stolen Base title - Carl Crawford (3rd)
ERA title - Scott Kazmir (5th)
Wins title - Matt Cain
Strikeouts title - Scott Kazmir (2nd)
AL Cy Young Award - Scott Kazmir (5th)
AL Rookie of the Year - Neal Totten
Gold Glove (SS) - Tyler Gemoll
Gold Glove (OF) - Carl Crawford (2nd)
Silver Slugger (OF) - Carl Crawford (3rd)
Silver Slugger (1B) - Carlos Pena
Silver Slugger (DH) - Jermaine Dye

.
.
.
The new salary cap has been posted. Increased from 89000 to 92500 (2000 from inflation, +1500 from team performance; from really down year to playoff bound).

I also dont think ive ever seen both leagues each have a different MVP and Hank Aaron winner (2 each, 4 total). like every now and then you'll get a split like that in 1 league, but having both leagues like that is cool

Before the conclusion of spring training, 2 more roster moves were made. Nyjer Morgan was released and Shawn Riggans was traded to the Marlins for cash compensation. It seems that the Rays were ready to call up Sandberg and slotted him into the starting lineup; Yamato Koga will also be making his MLB debut at 1B with Giambi at DH. Terrero also shifted over into RF as Brazilla did not appear ready for any big league action.

Rays' off-season trades allowed/used - 1/1 (maxed out for 2015)
Rays' payroll/cap - 89150/92500

The Rays opened up the season with a win; judging by the first half of the game it looked to be a chess match - it ended up becoming more of a high scoring affair. Kazmir had 14 k's with 2 ER in 8 IP. Koga hit his 1st career HR in his 1st career MLB game.
