The Rays have completed a 2nd trade this month, now with the Athletics (44-51):

Santiago Castilla - 1y/480
and the A's will be receiving
Brian Bruney - 3y/460
and 2000 cash
(trade was 5 star with the 2 players only, added money for realism)

With a tight cap, the Rays made another small upgrade. Castilla has been above average this season, the 37 y/o still has something left in him. With Castilla joining the MLB roster, Burgos was sent down to AAA.

.
Rays' trades used/allowed - 2/3
Rays' payroll/cap - 102120/102500

dolphin got me frustrated by crashing 2 times for this game so I ultimately fast game simmed it

Chiasson pitched very well in this game but the bullpen coughed up 3 runs to allow the White Sox to take the lead. Conti also hit a solo HR in the 3rd inning which put the first run on the board.

yeah pitcher performance is can vary a lot. like we call zach duke the GOAT but (from my exp) he'll randomly put up a 4.50 ERA season and then back down to 2.25

Jaramillo tossed a CG against the Rangers, winning 5-1. The 8th inning was the only bumpy part of the road he went through, where he gave up his only run. Conti and Koga each had a HR in this contest, both coming in the 5th inning.

Kershaw come out firing in this contest, throwing 22 straight strikes (over 2.2 IP). That trend didn't continue as he started missing the zone more often but managed 10 punch-outs. A-Gon gave the Rays their first run with a solo HR in the 3rd, and Koga followed in the 7th with his own solo HR.

The Rays also were able to overcome the Yankees for the AL East division lead, they have 2 matchups with each other in early September.

The Rays pulled off a win in dramatic fashion against the Yankees. Verlander's last inning came when Derrek Lee hit a solo HR in the 6th tying the game. Garza entered the game in the 7th and also gave up a solo HR, to Melky Cabrera. The inning after, Conti tied it with a solo HR of his own. Day finished the day (haha funny pun haha) off with a walk-off hit driving in Crawford.

Post-update message: bc of the 8 game lead, i finished simming the season and the Rays won the divison by 7 games with the Yankees claiming the WC spot.

Like a decent amount of Rays' games, their starter dominated. Jaramillo threw a CG SO with 11 K, eliminating the Angels from the playoffs. (I think Scherzer or Kershaw pitched the last game of the season since one of those two skipped a start). Kazmir looks to start Game 1 of the ALCS against the high powered Yankees offense.

The Yankees have swept the Rays in the ALCS, winning game 4 by the smallest lead (and score) you can have in Win/Loss baseball game: 1-0. Jaramillo was inducing a lot of quick contact at bats, but the Yanks put a few hits together in the 3rd inning where David Ortiz drove in the only run of the game.
The Yankees eventually went on to win the World Series against the Braves.

Post subject:  Re: Log Time, TB Rays

I decided to make this a separate post so it doesn't get lost in the other picture stuff. I'd like to thank anyone and everyone that participated in this log and anyone that paid any of amount attention whether it be accidentally opening this thread, or tagging along for a few posts. I thought it was pretty enjoyable, didn't expect the team to be that successful right off the bat, but the team had a rebuild or 2 at some point.
.
.
That being said, since this has used my free time pretty much everyday over the past 7 months I am going to take an indefinite hiatus from the log. My idea was to continue it past the 10 year mark, but I would like to spend time on other things for now. Thank you all again!
