This isn't the 2011 Red Sox, now.

Unfortunately no update at the moment, but I wanted to run an idea by you guys.

I was thinking of setting up a Youtube channel (Probably called "GunmenTV") where I could upload highlights and such. I wouldn't be doing entire games or anything, just things like "See Matt McCarthy's game-tying home run here!" or "Watch Charlie Huff rack up his 13th strikeout here!" things like that. I don't have anything that good to record with, just a regular old digital camera, so the videos wouldn't be of the best quality either.

Another benefit (at least for me) would be to show off the uniforms and player appearances.

So, what do you guys think, should I do it?

November 10th, 1998

Two months after that first day of class and the three of us, Preston, Melissa, and I, had sat together in every Econ 101 since then. I had taken a liking to Melissa, and Preston had noticed.

"Have you asked her out yet?" he said as he returned from a second dinner.
"I'm working, Preston," I replied from my desk.
"C'mon, you've got two more days to finish that paper. Just go ask her out now."
"Is that how it works? I'm just supposed to knock on her door and say, 'Let's go out!'?"
"Pretty much."
I rolled my eyes at him.
"How about tomorrow?" he suggested. "You can ask her after class."
I looked at him and thought about it.
"Maybe."
"I know you want to."

That night, I hardly got any sleep. I tossed and turned, trying to make up my mind. Should I do it? I thought. Will she say yes? So many questions. I had only ever asked one other girl out, and that was in middle school, so it hardly counted.

November 11th, 1998

Some hours later, I was still awake. I looked at my clock. 1:56. I had to get up in six hours. I tried to just put the though out of my mind, but was unable. I don't know what time it was when I finally managed to drift off, but I know that when I awoke, I felt awful.

Preston got to class before me, and I finally got there a few minutes before it started. Melissa smiled and waved when she saw me, while Preston have a wry smile. I sat down to next to Melissa, and class began.

Around 30 minutes in, Melissa happened to glance at my notebook.
"You're not writing anything down," she pointed out.
"What?" I asked, startled. I looked down. "Oh, yeah."
"Are you feeling all right?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm just... thinking about something."
"Oh, okay."

Class finally ended at 11, and I had made up my mind. As we gathered our things, I looked at Preston. His facial expression said, "Well?" and I nodded. He smiled and gave me a thumbs up.

Just outside the lecture hall, before we parted ways, I got her attention.
"Hey, Melissa?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think, um..." I started having second thoughts. She doesn't want to date you, idiot.
I was about to say "never mind" when Preston decided to jump in.
"He wants to know if you want to see a movie with him," he said. "On Friday."
Melissa was silent. I laughed nervously. "Hahaha, what a jokester, isn't he a jokester? Eh, heh... we've got a class clown over-"
"That sounds fun!"
"...What was that?" I asked.
"I said that sounds fun! What time do you want to go?"
I was shocked. Suddenly, my surprise turned to elation. "Uh, um, how about eight?"
"Sure!" she agreed with a smile. "I'll see you on Friday then!"
"Um, yeah!"

After she had left, Preston gave me a pat on the back.
"What would you do without me, Matty boy?"

Matt should take her to see the Rigrats Movie and see if she wants to go out again.

November 13th, 1998

It was Friday the 13th, and yet I was feeling like the luckiest guy in the world.

When we arrived at the theater, I asked Melissa what she wanted to see. I hope it isn't something too girly...
"Hmm," she said, looking over the showings. "How about The Waterboy?"
"What? Really?"
"Yeah!" she said. "I like Adam Sandler."
"Me too," I agreed, "Happy Gilmore was pretty funny."
"He was good in The Wedding Singer too."
"I just hope he doesn't end up selling out and making horrible movies in ten years..."
"He seems like a cool guy. I don't think he'll do that."
"I hope not..."

We had a great time at the movie, and we both enjoyed it. Afterwards, I asked if she wanted to get some ice cream.
"Of course!" she said.

We got our ice cream, a cone for me and a sundae for her, and sat down on a bench. We talked until we finished, and then I walked her back to her dorm.

"Hey," she said before leaving, "I had a great time."
"What? Oh, uh, me too," I said nervously.
"I'll see you Monday?"
"Yeah, see you then."
"Bye!"

She walked away, and I slowly turned to head back home. I smiled.

God, I'm going to marry that girl.
