So, I'm here with a new log, not sure how long it'll last though. No matter, we'll enjoy ourselves anyway! :) I'm sure you figured out, my gray bar team is called the Rochester Wolves, along with the Portland Wings as the other expansion team. More details later tonight, after the Bulls beat the Heat. :)

Never mind, no more tonight. I'll get everything I did tonight updated tomorrow. That includes roster and the first game.

Not sure if I really want to do a story for this or not, tell me what you guys think. But we do need some sort of introduction.

Kinda ripping of dish here, shhh...

----

Hey, my name is Fuzz. This whole experience has been nuts, and my English teacher wants me to write about it... Not really sure what to say, heh heh. I guess I'll start at the beginning.

I'm from a small town in rural Wisconsin. Basketball is my favorite sport, but I like following and playing the others too, including baseball. After my dad died suddenly, right in the process of starting up a baseball team. Not a little league team, or a small minor league team. An actual MLB team. I was pumped just to be the son of an MLB team owner, but my dad's death hit me hard. When it happened, the team kinda got pushed out of our family's mind for a few years.

But the league kept asking us if we were still interested in the team, but my mom just ignored them. My brother didn't want anything to do with it, even though he's a sports guy. He's starting up his own chiropractic business with his wife, and he's already got 3 kids. My oldest sister is going to medical school, and isn't much of a baseball fan anyway. My other older sister isn't a baseball fan either, and wants to be a psychiatrist. So, I'm last in the line of descendants. A 15 year old sports fan, still just a Freshman in High School. I didn't really think I could be an owner, legally, but hey, it worked out. Most of the season is during the summer anyway. And there was my mom too, but she didn't want anything to do with it. She never really understood why my dad liked sports so much...

The original plans were to base the team in an area with a high fan base, without a team. Some of the cities top on the list were Honolulu(my favorite before dad passed), Alaska(not high on my list), Las Vegas, and Omaha. But, when the team fell into my hands, and me still wanting to finish high school, those cities were ruled out. My mom made it clear that we were NOT moving so I could run a team, and not graduate. She insisted that I had to graduate, if I did this.

So I had to go with somewhere close, even if that meant in a state that already has a team. And so my mom made the decision to have the team call the nearest city home. And the nearest city on the list of considerations was Rochester, Minnesota. A small town, really, only about 2 1/2 hours from home. But also in a state dominated by Twins fans. And since Rochester was not expected to be picked, they had no plans at all for a stadium. So now we are stuck with the Metrodome. Yeah. AFTER the Twins moved out of the boring dome for brand new Target Field, we get it until Rochester builds a stadium for us. (I'm pretending there, the Twins will still play in the Metrodome in game) And with the fans voting on our logo, they picked the Wolves. Even though there are already the Timberwolves in the NBA. (Forgot about them until after I made the team) And we get the color purple. I'm fine with it, although some of the players say its too feminine. Bunch of scrubs. When I pictured owning an MLB team, I thought of winning divisions, playing in October, and the excitement of being in the World Series. I think we'll be lucky a wild card before my 10 year contract is up.

For players, we got to pick 3 players out of each existing team's minor league systems. (Again, not really, just making this up for the story.)We got to pick from the NL, while the other start up team, the Portland Wings, got to pick 3 from each AL system. Let's just say that we could use some improvement. And on that note, I will present to you our woeful starting lineup.

(I love the Italics SWAG in logs... teehee.) My first move as GM/Owner was to sign a 3B, a position our staff neglected in the draft. I got A.Chavez from the weak pool of Free Agency. He is young like the rest of the team, with some more polished skills, and should fit in well. I don't really wanna go overboard on F/A signings right away, I want to see what these guys can do.

(I'm not gonna post attributes, it takes too long. You can guess how good they are by their position in the rotation or lineup. 2 players each for agents, if you want. Although all agents have here is bragging rights when their guys do well.)

Just, just throw yourself into a wood chipper. Twice. While reading the Quran. And eating a burrito.

And before I knew it, Opening Day 2013 was here. (Again, not the date in game, just for the purposes of our story) Spring Training flew by, but I didn't really get to see much of it, with school and all. I did see a few games on TV though. We looked shaky... I also decided not to go out for the school baseball team, so I could have more free time to do things for the team.

We were placed in the AL Central, making it the second division with 6 teams, along with the NL Central. The Portland Wings are in the AL West. I prepared some season goals, and sent them for the team to see.

1. Avoid last place in the division

Yeah, that was it. I just didn't want to come in and be the laughing stock of the league. I wanted to be competitive. I figured we'd be able to beat out the Royals or Twins, and finish ahead of them. Maybe both if we're lucky.

But our first game of... ever... would be played against one of the division favorites, the Detroit Tigers. I had nightmares of Ordonez, Granderson, and Miggy shredding our young, weak pitching, and Dontrelle Willis making our offense look silly with his goofy windup and killer sinking fastball. The day couldn't come soon enough, I just wanted to get it over with...

(Also, please note that the difficulty is currently set on All-Star)

Thanks, Skittles. How am I doing?

I plan on using pretty much the same format I always do with logs... any objections?

Any time. Although, I'm always on the record of hating constant italics. So my opinions mean nothing

Rochester Wolves (0-1) @ Detroit Tigers (1-0)

April 2nd, 2013- Well, we didn't get killed, like I had feared. We still lost though, not how we wanted to start out our campaign. Although, I must say I'm proud of the guys for competing at the Major League level, against a good team. Ruggiano started out well, only giving up 1 hit in the first three innings. Willis also pitched well for Detroit, giving up 2 in that span. But Ruggiano ran into trouble with two outs, as Carlos Guillen drew the first blood of Wolves pitching, with a 2 RBI double to the left center gap, making it 0-2 in the 4th. Ivan Rodriguez brought Guillen home with a single, and made it 0-3. I feared the worst, and that Ruggiano would fall apart and the Tigers would reach double digits. But Ruggiano stayed strong, through the rest of his time pitching. We got on the board in the 6th, as Osorno and Lambin both had RBI singles, and brought the lead down to 1, at 2-3. In the 8th, Maurer tied it up with another RBI single. After no scoring in the bottom of the 8th or top of the 9th, I hoped we could get into extra innings and score once more, escaping with a victory. But on only the second pitch of the bottom half of the 9th, Miguel Cabrera hit a walk-off solo homer, off of Vosberg, ending the Wolves' hopes of an Opening Day win. It was heartbreaking, and the team looked pretty upset. They were supportive of Vosberg though, something I'm glad to see. We really have some good chemistry here, and guys get along and are nice.

We had plenty of hits, with 13, but lacked the power to drive runs in, with only 1 extra base hit all game. I think we may look into getting a guy who has the power to drive those runs in...

W- Willis(1-0)
L- Vosberg(0-1)
S- ----------
HR- M.Cabrera(1)

A.Chavez- 3-4, 2 R
Osorno- 2-4, RBI
Ruggiano- 6 IP, 8 H, 3 K's, 3 ER

Renteria- 3-4, 2B
M.Cabrera- 2-4, 2B, HR, RBI, 2 R, K
Willis- 9 IP, 13 H, 3 K's, 3 ER

(Well, the only thing I can complain about is that the logos are huge... but I can't find another decent purple wolves logo, so that'll have to work.)

Lambin is good, I think he has all E's with C power, except F fielding.

Also, this will be a fast paced log. Meaning I'll probably only play 2-3 games each month. I want to go multiple seasons with these guys, and see them improve.
