RECAP: It was one for the ages at Nationals Park today as K.K. Jennings got the start for this one against the Memphis Bees who have the best record in the SMLB. This was already K.K. Jennings last scheduled start but it might have been his last start of the year regardless because after 4 2/3 innings K.K. Jennings was forced to leave the game due to elbow pains after giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and striking out 5. When Jennings left the game the score was 4-2 after Gallagher and Olvariz both hit solo shots off of Bees powerful starting pitcher Justin Verlander. Wade Cox came in to mop up the mess that Jennings made and boy did he as Wade Cox didn't even allow a hit in almost 4 innings of relief while striking out 5. The score would remain 4-2 going into the bottom of the 9th and Justin Verlander was still out there, going for the complete game, Verlander got the first out with ease, but then the Stampedes dugout saw Verlander shrug his shoulders in exhaustion, The Stampede knew that it was now or never, Gurch stepped into the box and hit a solid single into center field to set up Frank Honey the hard hitting catcher, Frank Honey saw a pitch right down the middle from the tired Verlander and he sent it into the away teams bullpen to tie the game up 4-4. That would do it for Verlander and relief pitcher Zumaya would come on to try and get the last two outs to force extra innings. Anthony Gallagher stepped to the plate and hit a single to the opposite field, Simon Moon would then step into the batters box and hit into a fielders choice to get Gallagher at second, Vic Olvariz stepped to the plate, with the fans screaming for his 2nd home run of the day and thats exactly what they got, Zumaya threw a high fastball right where Olvariz likes it and he crushed it to opposite field for a 2 run walk off home run to put an end to one of the most exciting games that the Stampede have ever played.

Starting catcher E.J. Florence has finally recovered from his broken collarbone injury and will be available to play in the Stampede's next game after missing just over a month. Hopefully the return of Florence will help the Stampede keep their 10 game winning streak alive as their magic number is down to just 8 games with just 18 games remaining.

RECAP: The Stampede couldn't keep their 12 game winning streak going as they finally lose in the month of September after relief pitcher Martin Crane came in and gave up 4 runs in just 1 inning pitched. Quincy Portis did all he could to get the offense going by hitting 3 doubles but it was just not meant to be as the Stampede couldn't convert with runners in scoring position like they've done all month long. The magic number remains at 5 after the Round Rock Ramblers were able to beat the Buffalo Pack later in the day.

Honey got a first pitch circle changeup right over the heart of the plate and Honey did not waste it, sending it deep to center field and sending the Stampede fans home happy.
