Yeah, Felix was only cool for 5 days. then his record was broken. :/ Felix argues that he had 1 2/3 innings less to get the strikeouts though.

And good game Raul, even though it looks like the rest of the offense struggled against Verlander. Oh we'll, I feel it's more realistic of you don't get 100 wins this year.

Yeah man, 82 wins to 100? Crazy leap, the angels are catching up and I'd be surprised if we still hold first in June, I'm throwing updates out for a while since I slept for 13 hours today.

Baltimore Orioles (18-20) @ Seattle Mariners (22-16)
May 11th, 2009.

Mariners win in season debut of Scott Olsen

Mariners: 5
Orioles: 1

Win: Olsen (1-0)
Save: B. Wilson (1)
Loss: Burres (2-1)
HR: Ibanez (8)
Fields (4)

Seattle -- Scott Olsen made his 2009 debut today, and although it wasn't highly anticipated, he made people desperate for some more of him as he pitched six innings allowing eight hits, one run and striking out one but he did induce three double plays during the game. New Mariner Brian Wilson also made his debut for the ball club, he went three innings allowi g just two hits while making one ground into a double play to earn his first save of the year, Joe Ullan reports that he will not be the closer and that he just went three innings and got the save that way. Brian Wilson was acquired a couple of days ago in exchange for bench player Jose Lopez. Josh Fields made highlights today as while the infield was back he laid down a bunt, and although he only has "G" running speed, he legged it out for his first bunt single of the year. He also hit his fourth homer of the year in the contest.

Scott Olsen (6 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 1 SO)
Josh Fields (3-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI)

Brian Burres (2 & 1/3 IP, 8 H, 5 ER)
Aubrey Huff (1-4, 1 RBI, 1 DP)

Record: (24-17)

1st: Seattle Mariners (24-17)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (22-19)
2nd: Oakland Athletics (22-19)
4th: Texas Rangers (17-24)

I'm really trying to get Shaun Marcum for Adam Loewen straight up, but they're not liking it, any ideas?

yeah, the angels and athletics are really good, I think we face Los Angeles later this month.

Detroit Tigers (23-18) @ Seattle Mariners (24-17)
May 15th, 2009.

Mariners win as Willis can't keep Seattle offence down

Mariners: 6
Tigers: 2

Win: Cook (3-2)
Save: X
Loss: Willis (1-2)
HR: Guerrero (12)
Beltre (9)

Seattle -- Aaron Cook was a star tonight, just one start removed from an outstanding sixteen strikeout performance against the same ball club, he brings the same mentality and skills to Safeco Field in an outing against Detroit and strikeouts 12 over 7 & 1/3 innings to keep his dominant level of play consistent. On the other side, Dontrelle Willis wasn't so fortunate, the former ace of the Miami Marlins went just three and two third innings as he surrendered 5 earned runs to suffer a loss to Seattle. The Mariners have gone on a recent cold spell, at one point losing five games in a row. They are currently first in the division but that lead may not hold on unless they can keep playing like this in the coming weeks. On the offence side, Vladimir Guerrero continued his redhot season, as the right fielder hit his twelfth, while Adrian Beltre hit his ninth, the two are first and second on the team in homeruns respectively.

Aaron Cook (7 & 1/3 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 12 SO)
Adrian Beltre (3-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R)

Dontrelle Willis (3 & 2/3 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 SO)
Magglio Ordonez (2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI)

Record: (27-17)

1st: Seattle Mariners (27-17)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (24-20)
3rd: Oakland Athletics (23-21)
4th: Texas Rangers (18-26)

Tampa Bay Rays (15-29) @ Seattle Mariners (27-17)
May 18th, 2009.

Mariners lose as Felix goes too long

Mariners: 4
Rays: 5

Win: Dohmann (2-0)
Save: Howry (6)
Loss: F. Hernandez (5-2)
HR: C. Pena (7)
Fields (5)

Seattle -- A tough day for Seattle, as in extra innings they lose 5-4 in a great outing by Felix Hernandez. "The King" went 10 & 1/3 innings, that's right, ten and a third innings and was doing great until the eleventh, in which manager Joe Ullan decided to keep him in, that was a bad idea as he gave up two runs to give up the game, Sean Green then came in and got two outs on four pitches. The offence was rather bleak today, combining for sixteen hits but not being able to do anything with the runners, they had at least one hit in every inning except the fourth. Vladimir Guerrero continued his offensive enslaught, as the former Angel went 4-5, as he tacked on to his mlb hit lead. Zach Duke takes the mound for the Mariners tomorrow while Matt Garza goes for Tampa. We have new reports however, that Felix Hernandez suffered an arm injury, "elbow pains" is what the doctor says, he'll be out for two weeks, missing roughly three starts.

Felix Hernandez (10 & 1/3 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 6 SO)
Josh Fields (1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI)

Jason Marquis (7 & 1/3 IP, 12 H, 3 ER, 0 SO)
Jonny Gomes (1-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI)

Record: (28-19)

1st: Seattle Mariners (28-19)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (26-21)
3rd: Oakland Athletics (25-22)
4th: Texas Rangers (21-26)

M's acquire Shaun Marcum in "blockbuster" deal
May 22nd, 2009.

Toronto -- The Toronto Blue Jays have sent starter Shaun Marcum across the continent to Seattle in exchange for Canadian Ryan Dempster. Dempster was signed to a contract by Seattle to serve as the closer/setup man, but R.A. Dickey has been mostly lights out for the season, Ryan will most definitely help a struggling bullpen which has combined for a 4.04 ERA, it's assumed he will be the setup man to B.J. Ryan.

I wouldn't really classify Marcum as a "blockbuster" player (lol) but good deal, your starting rotation is so deep o.o you should look into moving some of those starters for cash or something like that for practice equipment.

Yeah, I haven't mentioned this but we're currently 20 million dollars below our budget, as in we have 20 million dollars less than our salary cap....yeah. So I'll consider that.

Gotta get rid of them high contracts, I think that's always the goal. Although I thought you already had that done.

I signed Vladimir Guerrero during the offseason, among others, namely Ryan Dempster. But with him gone it should be down some more. I kind of regret signing Vlad since he made us a little too good.

Texas Rangers (21-26) @ Seattle Mariners (28-19)
May 22nd, 2009.

Mariners win, as Guerrero keeps hot streak going

Mariners: 5
Rangers: 3

Win: Duke (3-0)
Save: Dickey (11)
Loss: Jennings (1-6)
HR: Kinsler (3)
Guerrero (13)
Beltre (11)

Seattle -- R.A. Dickey peered into the hand of his catcher, the game was already decided, but he wanted to end it on a high note, as he struck out Ian Kinsler to end the game. Seattle took game one of this three game series at home with a good outing by Zach Duke, definitely not his best, but a good outing nonetheless. Vladimir Guerrero and Adrian Beltre both homered to deliver the key blasts for the game as Jason Jennings went down again, he's struggled in all of his starts versus the Mariners this season, he's lost all of them due to either a poor offensive showing of his ball club, or his own pitching, yet he has solidified his spot in the Rangers rotation even after raising his ERA to 5.02 during this game. The Texas Rangers have had an abysmal season so far even after signing top notch free agents like Sean Casey and Brett Tomko. The Mariners hope to take advantage of this struggling ball club after losing their last series vs. the Rays. Catch them tomorrow night as Aaron Cook takes the mound.

Zach Duke (5 & 2/3 IP, 5 H, 4 BB, 3 ER, 3 SO)
Ichiro Suzuki (2-4, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 2 R)

Jason Jennings (5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 6 SO)
Hank Blalock (1-4, 2 RBI, 1 R)

Record: (30-20)

1st: Seattle Mariners (30-20)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (28-22)
3rd: Oakland Athletics (26-24)
4th: Texas Rangers (22-28)
