I really don't want to make ANOTHER team blue, so I picked one of their alternate jersey colours.

I realize that this is a bit delayed, but "nice draft excavation point" so… I guess I don't remember, but you finished low enough in the standings last year to warrant picking 13?

How do you get three draft selections? As I was reading your post, I assumed there were two selections and a bunch of FA signings

Seattle Mariners (42-23) @ San Francisco Giants (32-33)
June 12th, 2009.

Giants win as pitching staff combines for shutout

Giants: 3
Mariners: 0

Win: Sonnanstine (6-3)
Save: Parra (2)
Loss: Cook (5-3)
HR: Teixeira (5)

San Francisco -- An unlikely hero pitched an amazing game today. Andy Sonnanstine who currently has a 5.34 ERA was expected to foil up against a deep Mariners offense but instead pitched one of the best games of his this season. He went six strong innings yielding just one walk and six hits in a great performance. The Mariners weren't so fortunate, the ball club gave up four errors, as the fielding today had to be the teams downfall. Opposing pitcher Aaron Cook pitched a solid game, going just five and two thirds, but allowing only one run. Afterwards Brian Fuentes came in to attempt to hold the Giants lead to just one run, he failed but succeeded at the same time, with two outs in his first inning of work he allowed a groundball to Orlando Hudson, who fumbled it and allowed Randy Winn to make it to first, a series of errors then allowed the Giants to tack on two more runs to take the first game of the series with ease.

Andy Sonnanstine (6 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 4 SO)
Ray Durham (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 1B)

Aaron Cook (5 & 2/3 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 SO)
Ronny Paulino (1-4, 1 2B, 1 SO)

Record: (42-26)

1st: Seattle Mariners (42-26)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (36-32)
3rd: Oakland Athletics (34-34)
4th: Texas Rangers (26-42)

Pittsburgh Pirates (36-32) @ Seattle Mariners (42-26)
June 15th, 2009.

Mariners win as Josh Johnson hurls a gem

Mariners: 3
Pirates: 0

Win: J. Johnson (5-0)
Save: Dickey (18)
Loss: Brownlie (1-3)
HR: X

Seattle- The Mariners have finally ended their four game losing slide, after being swept by San Francisco on their National League trip, they came home with opens arms in their hallway. Josh Johnson was a star in today's game, the former Marlins pitched 8 & 2/3 innings before being removed because of a pitch count while striking out a career high seventeen in a winning effort. R.A. Dickey then came in to finish off the game. The Mariners were however kept silent for the majority of the game, scoring just three runs. Josh Fields walked a career high four times in the game, while scoring every run in the ball game by the Mariners, driven in every time by Michael Morse, who made a start in right field while Vladimir Guerrero played third base to cover for Adrian Beltre, who reportedly felt sick before the game started.

Josh Johnson (8 & 2/3 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 17 SO)
Josh Fields (0-0, 4 BB, 3 R)

Brownlie (6 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 2 ER)

Seattle Mariners (45-26) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (35-36)
June 19th, 2009.

D-backs fall in Andy Pettite's debut

Diamondbacks: 1
Mariners: 4

Win: Snead (1-0)
Save: Dickey (19)
Loss: Pettitte (3-5)
HR: Guerrero (21)

Phoenix -- A tough luck loss today, as three early runs prove to be the deciding factor for the Seattle Mariners. Andy Pettitte took the mound for Arizona today, it was his first start for the D-backs since being traded to the Yankees for Miguel Montero. He pitched a solid game, giving up four earned runs in five innings pitched while striking out none. On the opposite side it was a much less seasoned starter than Andy Pettitte, Andrew Snead took the mound for the Seattle Mariners after being called up to fill in for Homer Bailey who felt poor. The rookie pitched seven strong innings, carrying a perfect game and a shutout until the fifth inning. He surrendered just two hits while striking out six in the best start of his still young career. Vladimir Guerrero also hit his major league leading 21st homerun off of Andy Pettitte in the fifth to decisively take the first game of the series against Arizona.

Andy Pettitte (5 IP, 11 H, 4 ER, 0 SO)
Chris Young (1-3, 1 2B, 1 R)

Andrew Snead (7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 6 SO)
Adrian Beltre (3-3, 2 2B, 1 R)

Record: (46-28)

1st: Seattle Mariners (46-28)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (38-36)
3rd: Oakland Athletics (34-40)
4th: Texas Rangers (29-45)

Diamondbacks deal Lyon for Scott Olsen
April 6th, 2013.

Phoenix -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have completed a trade with the Seattle Mariners in which they send the speedy second baseman Emilio Bonifacio, and reliever Brandon Lyon to Seattle in exchange for Scott Olsen. Olsen spent most of last season with the Marlins but was one of the three starting pitchers traded to Seattle for Jarrod Washburn, Olsen will most definitely help a struggling D-backs lineup and will be inserted into the rotation to replace the injured Randy Johnson.

I really like the move. Brandon Lyon is a great pitcher.

Hey, thanks. His ERA is a bit high right now (4.23) but he'll do better in an M's uniform!

Also, cracked 2000 views!

oh my god I'm so mad at myself.

I accidentally clicked A twice once the game was done, we lost 3-0, so I'll definitely watch another game to make up for it.

Texas Rangers (29-45) @ Seattle Mariners (46-28)
June 23rd, 2009.

Mariners win as Dickey earns 20th save

Mariners: 3
Rangers: 1

Win: J. Johnson (6-0)
Save: Dickey (20)
Loss: Ponson (0-1)
HR: X

Seattle -- Wow, an off-day can sometimes feel like forever! Even up to 13 days! As Seattle takes the opening game of this series against the division rivals, Texas. Josh Johnson started the game, going six and a third innings to stay perfect through out the year, while R.A. Dickey hit a milestone, earning his twentieth save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close out the game, he has been outstanding this year, and is on track to become an All-star as he's among the league leaders in ERA by a closer and strikeouts by a reliever. Jeff Clement got his first slice of action in the MLB since April, the 25 year old catcher came in for Ichiro Suzuki to pinch hit and got a single in his first at bat in months. The offence was quiet, driving in just three, led by slugger Josh Fields, who went 2-3 with a RBI in the DH role.

Josh Johnson (6 & 1/3 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 SO)
Josh Fields (2-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB)

Sidney Ponson (5 & 2/3 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 0 SO)
Toby Hall (1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI)

Record: (48-29)

1st: Seattle Mariners (48-29)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (39-38)
3rd: Oakland Athletics (36-41)
4th: Texas Rangers (30-47)
