Alaska Post
Ice Wolves Coming to MLB
4/1/2008
Alaska baseball fans have something to cheer about. The MLB Commisioner has approved the installation of two more expansion teams into the legendary MLB: The Alaska Ice Wolves and the Utah Snakes.

The Ice Wolves have been sold to famed Motts owners Thomas Roads and Aaron Sandberg. The GM will be little-known Power Pros 27, fresh out of College at age 21. Although the move might surprise fans, Power Pros 27 is an expert on baseball, and will have help from other members of the staff. The manager will be former major league catcher Ronald Miller. The home stadium will be Motts-sponsored Golen Apples Stadium, while the Ice Wolves will play in the AL East, and the Snakes will play in the AL Central.

We met with Power Pros 27, who said this team is obviously just a starting point of a greater future, and cites that it will be difficult to win games the first couple of years. This backed up by the fact that no one on this team is older than 27. However, he also mentions the low payroll, and how it will be instrumental in the future, as it gives this team plenty of room for free agents.

Yes, I am starting a new log. This log takes inspiration from ERISA DUDE's ICC log and ChiCub Fan's Royals log. As you may notice, the paragraph above is very similar to the ICC log's first post, so I take no credit. Also, I need a Trade Advisor. The one in this log will take a more active role in this log than other logs, with his main duties being:
1. Recommending trading players
2. Approving/ Disapproving of CPU offered trades.
3. Keep track of team salary and maintaining it.
4. Free Agency Activity
So, as you see, this will be a demanding role, and I need someone who is smart and good with what is listed above for the log. Anyways, I hope you enjoy. :P

Starting Pitchers
· Szuminski (95 DC CB- 3, SLD- 1, FORK-1, Walk, Durability 2): Szuminski should develop into a decent starter once he gets his Stamina and Breaking Balls up, as long as be can stay healthy.
· Riley (91 EC FORK- 3, CB-2): Riley is decent, but needs to work on Control.
· Abraham (89 DC CUT- 3, SLD- 3, CB- 2, FORK-2): Abraham has good offspeed stuff and control, so he will utilize his ability to paint the corners.
· Gautreau (84 FC KNCB- 3, SLD-2, FORK- 2): Gautreau is not very good for a major league pitcher, but features a rare knuckle-curveball.
· Clippard (94 FC FORK- 3, CB- 1): Clippard has a good fastball and forkball, but is a little wild.
Relief Pitchers
· Elder (86 FC CUT- 3, CB- 2, FORK-2): Elder will probably be a career middle-reliever, citing his lack of control and Top Speed.
· Kuzmic (83 DC SLD-3, CB-2, Durability 4, Shuuto Spin): Kuzmic has a fastball that moves in an unusual Shuuto-like fashion, while he has good control.
· Bourgeois: (84 EC CUT-2, 2SFB-1, CB-1): Bourgeois is your run-of-the-mill Expansion Team Middle Reliever.
· Veras: (91 FB SLD-3, CB-1): Although he could be a Starter with his Stamina, his lack of breaking balls regulates him to a Set-Up Role.
· Bonilla: (91 FC SLD- 3, CB- 1, FORK-1): The team's closer, a role he may lose if his control problems continue.
Starting Lineup
· SS- Neu (1EFDDDF): Neu is not a great hitter, but with decent speed and a decent arm, his services are necessary at the time.
· DH- Bouknight (2EFEDDF): Bouknight can lift the ball a little better than Neu, but is not your typical DH.
· CF- Tovar (2EEDECD)- Tovar is an exciting prospect who can develop into an all-around player.
· 3B- Garrett House (3CBDCDC Contact Hitter, Gd INF Hitter, Firstball Hitter, Bases Clearer, Error Prone, Consistency 2, Throwing 2): House is a product of the Green/Golden Apples system, and at age 21, is the leader of this team already.
· C- Fussell (1FEFECD): Fussell is not a great catcher because of his arm, so he could be replaced someday.
· 2B- Sparks (1FEFFDD): Sparks is not a great hitter, but is a decent fielder.
· RF- Leon (2FEEEEF): Leon is mediocre all-around.
· LF- Sandberg (2FFEEEF): Like Leon, Sandberg is mediocre.
· 1B- Vosberg (2GDGGFD)- Bad at everything except power.
Bench
· LF- Borkowski (2FFEFEF)- Can become decent if he works on power.
· C- Truby (2GFFDFD)- Might become starter if he works on Contact.
· C- Lockwood (1GFEDEE)- Being the third-string Catcher on an Expansion Team, the future does not look too bright for Lockwood
· 3B- Arteaga (2FDFEFD)- Being one of the best hitters on the team, it is unfortunate that Arteaga is blocked by House.
· LF- Boyd (2EFFFEE)- Not much too say or see here.
· 2B- Febles (2FFEFEE)- A typical backup at 2B.
AAA Pitchers
· Ruan (93 FC CUT-3, FORK-2, CB-1 Walk)- Control issues have regulated Ruan to AAA until he improves.
· Conrad (85 FC CUT-3, FORK-3)- Poor control and Top Speed is the reason he is in AAA
· Pickler (94 FC FORK- 3, CB-2, SLD-2)- We could see him in the majors soon if he improves his control.
· Clontz (90 FC CUT-2, FORK-2, CB-1)- Terrible Control should keep him in the minors for a while.
· Duff (93 CC SNK-3, SLD-2, CB-2, FORK-2, Hot Head)- Duff has to take anger management classes before becoming a major leaguer. :P
· Halter (93 GC SLD-3, CB-2, STR Finisher)- Like many AAA pitchers, Halter has control problems.
· Padgett (92 FC SLD-2, CB-2)- Control problems (Familiar?)
· Hampson (83 EC SLD-3, SNK-2, STR Finisher)- He needs to work on his Fastball.
AAA Fielders
· C-Valenzuela (1EFFDFE Durability 2)- He is one of too many catchers on this roster, so he won't play in the MLB.
· 1B- Eckelman (3FDFEFE)- He has good power and can take Vosberg's spot at 1B if he performs well.
· 1B- Arellano (3FDEFFE)- Similiar to Eckelman.
· 3B- Quentin (2FDFDEE)- Quentin is already blocked by two good third basemen in the majors, unfortunately.
· SS- Christian (1DEEDCD)- Christian could replace Neu in the major leagues with his abilities.
· SS- Ziegler (1FFEEDF Gd Bunt)- Ziegler could be a backup in the major leagues soon.
· RF- Shibilo (2EFEEED)- If he works on power, he could become a decent singles hitter.
· RF- Munro (2FEFEEF)- Same as Shibilo, expect he needs to work on Contact.
Credit to ERISA Dude on Scouting Report Style.
EDIT: Agent P- Yes you are! :P

I VETO THAT!
lol jk

AgentP will be a great trade advisor.

Also, G control really isn't that bad, I mean, it's bad, but you can 90% of the time hit the plate, especially if you play on expert pitching controls like me where if you time the pitch it's pretty accurate. Hopefully this log lasts a while, good start. And I like your success mode character, looks like the captain, the star of your team.

I'll take Christian if he's the starting SS on the MLB team, because he should be.

I'll take Ziegler, if I'm allowed to have a client.

As trade advisor, I advise that you trade Szuminski if you plan on simulating games. Walk is the "silent killer" of Power Pros.

Cool beginning. I'll be watching (and not just cause you're giving me too much credit)! Those Motts apple juice guys are really getting their name on some stadiums, huh?!?

I don't want to be anything official, but offer the following comments:

· Gautreau (84 FC KNCB- 3, SLD-2, FORK- 2): Gautreau is not very good for a major league pitcher, but features a rare knuckle-curveball. seems like a harsh assessment. Just a little slow with the fastball, really

· Veras: (91 FB SLD-3, CB-1): Although he could be a Starter with his Stamina, his lack of breaking balls regulates him to a Set-Up Role.. Swingman?

I'd think one of these guys would deserve a spot over one of your current MRs

    · Ruan (93 FC CUT-3, FORK-2, CB-1 Walk).

    · Pickler (94 FC FORK- 3, CB-2, SLD-2).

    · Duff (93 CC SNK-3, SLD-2, CB-2, FORK-2, Hot Head)

    · Halter (93 GC SLD-3, CB-2, STR Finisher)

· SS- Neu (1EFDDDF): v. · SS- Christian (1DEEDCD)
You really value 1 letter's worth of speed (E v D) over 1 letter of contact plus 1 letter of power plus 1 letter of defense plus 1 level of error resistance? Christian is a stud!!!

[size=150]· 1B- Eckelman (3FDFEFE)- He has good power and can take Vosberg's spit at 1B if he performs well. Isn't that what the ball boys are for?!?

That doesn't sound like a very pleasant job.

Anyway, I think this is just the roster as it was first generated by the CPU. Some moves definitely need to be made. Eckelman and Arellano definitely seem superior to Vosberg at 1B. Christian definitely looks like the stud of the lineup (D contact in a gray-bar player? Yes please!); if you want speed in your lineup, you still have Tovar, who has higher contact than Neu anyway (not to mention 2 TRJ). And finally, Duff should be in the majors. His speed and control are among the best in your team, and Hot Head really isn't a problem.
