2009 Spring Training Game 4

Orlando -- The Nats gained momentum winning their last game of ST today, as Johnny Cueto went 4 and 2/3 getting a no decision allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 6. Cole Hamels went 3 innings for the Orioles getting the loss, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. Mark Ellis went 3-5 with a double and 2RBI for the Nats. Aubrey Huff had a good game for the O's going 2-4 with 2 doubles and a ribbie.

Bailey is happy to be the ace this season. He says he would have been fine with taking the backseat to Cliff Lee.

I'd like to question Jon Rauch in the long reliever role, though.

I'll probably do that for most of my bullpen guys, Rauch and Schroeder currently, but part of this reason, is, Wagner has poor motivation right now, and Rauch has red. I'll probably call Wagner up soon, or use somebody like Chico or O'Connor in long relief.

Atlanta -- Nasty Nats rout Braves on opening day. Homer Bailey pitched 6 and a third today, earning a win allowing 7 hits and no runs, striking out 9. Washington -- Chico gets shutout in first 2009 start. Matt Chico received a spot start today, and definitely showed the Nats it was worth it, throwing a 4-hit shutout. Chico struck out 13 and walked one, in his 4-hit shutout. Doug Davis pitched 7 innings for Arizona, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Ryan Zimmerman got 2 hits in 4 AB's, one of which was a double, and he knocked in 2. Chris Snyder, Eric Byrnes, Stephen Drew, and Curtis Granderson, were the only 4 for Arizona to get base hits.
