March 12, 2013

*Jack Appleton, who is in his first year as GM of the Cleveland Indians wakes up to the sound of the morning news on the TV, the reporter sounded a lot more worried than usual so instead of ignorning the tv and going back to sleep like always, Jack decided to listen for a change.*

REPORTER: *BREAKING NEWS* This just in, an evil genius whose name has yet to be released has hacked into every website that has anything to do with Major League Baseball and has destroyed all files related to the sport, baseball as we all know it, has been changed forever...*The TV suddenly changed channels from the news to a weird station that Jack had never seen before, a man with beady little eyes and a large forehead came on the screen*

Evil Man: MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I told the L.A. Dodgers they would rue the day they cut me. All my life, all i wanted to do was play in the MLB, but the Dodgers missed out on the chance of a lifetime when they let me go, so instead of dedicating my time to practicing and getting better(and I have you all know I was plenty good enough to begin with but the L.A. Dodgers are to stupid to notice good talent when they see it) I've been spending all of my time developing a computer virus that will change the game forever!!! all the records gone, all the team info....gone!!, everything....gone!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, and i know what you all are probably thinking, that this plan has no chance of working because everyone will just remember what baseball team every player played on and the only thing that is really lost are the records, well don't worry, I have that covered.

*Suddenly a bright flash came from the TV that knocked Jack unconscious. He woke up 5 minutes later and had no idea what was going on, the TV was back on the News station and everything seemed normal....until the phone rang*

Jack: Hello?

Bud Selig:
Hello, Jack...I come bearing bad news, as you may or may not know by now, The baseball world has been forever changed by an evil genius, none of the players or managers have any idea who they played/managed for, but don't worry Jack I think I know a solution to this problem, I've gathered everyone from the league and we're going to meet in Chicago to have a new league draft, as hard as it's going to be, the only way to get through this is to start from scratch. Also, I put all the managers names into a hat and drew each name out one by one to decide who will be managing each team, you drew the Cleveland Indians, good luck!

Jack: What the heck is going on.....all of this makes no sense, well I guess I better book a flight to Chicago.

This will be my final attempt to start/finish a season log for the 2013 baseball season, as baseball season ends, my desire to play power pros will probably fade(i'm sure most if not all of you are the same way) so if I stop posting on this log i'll probably pick it back up at the start of the 2014 season.

SERIES PREVIEW: The Indians were able to rally back from an opening day loss to take the next two games and win the first series of the season with the Chicago White Sox. Now the Indians travel to Oakland to take on the A's. The A's don't seem to have an all-star line up but they do have some guys that can knock one out at anytime, especially Brandon Phillips who bats in the clean up spot. The A's however, do have a great starting rotation with Matt Harvey, Annibal Sanchez, R.A. Dickey, Julio Tehran, and Charlie Morton. Unfortunately it looks like the Indians will have to see Matt Harvey and possibly Sanchez as well in this series.

Then in the bottom of the 12th with 2 outs, Grant Green got a fastball over the heart of the plate and did not miss, hitting a Walk Off HR to the deepest part of the ball park, his first HR of the season. Tanner Roark got the start for the Indians today and pitched amazing, just like he has all season, Going 6 1/3 IP while giving up just 1 run over 4 hits and striking out 1. GAME 1 April 18th, 2013 Series Cleveland Indians(10-6) @ Minnesota Twins(6-11)

SERIES PREVIEW: The Twins have had a rough start to the 2013 season winning just 6 out of their first 17 games, but they do have a decent line up along with one of the best starters in the game Stephen Strasburg, but if the Indians pitching staff can avoid giving up the long ball they should have no trouble winning 2 out of 3 in Minnesota. The player to watch in this series for the Twins is power hitting shortstop Jean Segura who is batting just under .400 for the year in the lead off spot.

INJURY REPORT APRIL 20th, 2013: Both Francisco Liriano and Tanner Scheppers left yesterdays game in Minnesota with elbow injuries and will be put on the 15 day DL, this is a big blow to a suddenly struggling Indians pitching staff, Jake Westbrook and Jake Odorizzi will be called up from AAA to take over for the injuried Liriano and Scheppers, while Kyle Gibson will take over for Liriano in the starting rotation.

SERIES NOTES: Bryce Harper came up big for the Indians in games 2 and 3, going 5-8 with 2 doubles, 2 Home Runs, and 4 runs batted in, while Bryce Harper had a great series, the same cannot be said for Paul Goldschmidt who continues to struggle, going just 2-12 while not driving in a single run. Hopefully Goldschmidt can turn it around as the Indians head to Kansas City to face the Royals for a 3 game series.

APRIL 22nd, 2013: In a move to reduce the Indians high salary, Cleveland has proposed a trade that would send minor league outfielder Jerry Sands(D/D/D/F/E/2/C) to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for hard throwing rookie Vic Black(TOP SPD: 100, G/E, CB: 2). This seems like a smart move for the Indians, with the number of outfielders they have, Sands wasn't likely to be a factor in the future.

Also for agents, if you want to change what your player is practicing you can.

Bryce Harper is currently practicing fielding.
Grant Green is currently in running practice.

Tanner Scheppers is currently in stamina practice.

Change Scheppers to "learn SPLT" in spring training, for now stamina is fine.
