RECAP: The Indians used a big 7th inning to finish off a huge come from behind win to grab their 3rd victory in a row to finally get back to a .500 record for the year. Rookie lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu got the start today and didn't have his best stuff lasting just 4 inning while giving up 2 earned runs on 9 hits and striking out just 2. But a 5 hit, 3 run 7th inning and an 8th inning HR by catcher Wilson Ramos along with great pitching from the bullpen, it ended up being enough to finish off the pesky Royals of KC. J.J. Putz came into the 9th to try and get his 2nd save in as many games but was pulled with 1 out to go after giving up 1 run on 3 hits, Jim Johnson came in and finished off the game on a strikeout to get his 1st save of the season. Sandy Rosario ended up getting the win(his 3rd of the year) after pitching nearly 2 innings of perfect baseball.

Headley- 3-4, 1 2B, 2 Runs
Peguero- 3-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 Run(First RBI of the Seaon)

Pitching

Westbrook- 3 IP, 2 H, 1 SO, 1 ER HOLD ERA: 6.13
J.Johnson- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 SO, 2 ER WIN(1-1) ERA: 4.74

GAME 3 May 4th, 2013
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
Indians 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 8 0
Royals 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 3 9 1

Line up
Cabrera- 0-4
Choo- 2-4, 1 2B, 1 Run, 1 SO(7 Game Hitting Streak)
McLouth- 1-4
Harper- 3-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI
Goldschmidt- 0-4, 1 SO
Ramos- 0-4
Scutaro- 1-3, 1 SO
Headley- 0-3, 1 SO
G.Green- 1-2, 1 Run, 1 BB

Pitching
Roark- 5 IP, 5 H, 2 SO, 1 ER ERA: 3.23
West- 2 IP, 2 H, 1 SO, 1 ER(First Game of Season) ERA: 4.50
Rosario- 2 IP, 2 H, 1 SO, 1 ER LOSS(3-1) ERA: 3.43

RECAP: The Indians saw their longest winning streak of the season come to an end in game 3 of this 3 game series as the late inning magic was no where to be found this time. Tanner Roark got the start and put up 5 solid innings while allowing just 1 run on 5 hits and getting 2 outs via the strikeout. Matt West who got called up to give the tired bullpen some time off pitched 2 decent innings but did give up one of the 3 home runs hit by the Royals. One bright side is that Shin-Soo Choo kept his hitting streak alive which now stands at 7 games and he also currently leads the MLB in hits. The Indians now head into a much needed day off before going to New York to face a great Yankees team that they haven't been able to beat in 4 tries this season.

INJURY NEWS May 6th, 2013

Hard throwing reliever Tanner Scheppers has recovered from his elbow injury and will be available to pitch in the key New York Yankees series. In limited playing time, Scheppers has a 1.35 ERA and the league is hitting just .091 off him. This will be a big time help for a bullpen that has struggled to get the job done since he has been out.

Trade News
In a blockbuster trade, The Houston Astros(14-18) acquire starting pitcher Jered Weaver(TOP SPD: 90, B/A, 2SFB: 3, SLD: 5, SCB: 5, CHG: 2) and send all-star outfielder Jason Heyward(D/B/D/B/C/3/D) to the Boston Red Sox(15-19). This is easily the biggest trade that has happened so far this season and will probably be the most talked about trade throughout the league for sometime.

PREVIEW: The Yankees line up can be pretty deadly when it comes to hitting home runs, but what the Indians really should be worried about is facing this loaded pitching staff, The Yankees top two starters, Justin Verlander and Clayton Kershaw have both went the distance against Cleveland this season, including Justin Verlander's 16 strikeout performance in a 3-0 Yankees win on April 26th. The Indians are going to have to figure out Verlander and Kershaw if they expect to beat the Yankees and gain some games on the division leading White Sox.

Ohlendorf- 0 1/3 IP, 0 H, 1 SO, 0 ER SV(1) ERA: 4.87

RECAP: The Cleveland Indians didn't start this series off the way they wanted to, dropping yet another game to the Bronx Bombers. The Indians almost had some of their late inning magic, but came up just short as they only got 3 out of the 4 runs that they needed to tie the game in the 9th. Tony Cingrani got the start for Cleveland and he easily had the worst outing of his season. He came in averaging just under 9 innings(Yes, 9.) per start but lasted just 5 and a third today giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and striking out 2. Hopefully the Indians can bounce back in game 2 and finally get a win against this powerful Yankees team.

J.Johnson- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 SO, 0 ER ERA: 4.50

RECAP: The Indians were able to use a career day from Nate McLouth to score a season high 12 runs, and get their first win against the Yankees in 2013. Nate McLouth went 3-5 with 3 homers, including the 1st grand slam for the Indians this season to end up with a career high 8 RBI's. Kyle Gibson was the starter today and gave the Indians a great 6 and a third innings, giving up just 4 runs(2 earned) on 6 hits while striking out 3. Tanner Scheppers made his first appearance since coming off the DL later in the game and gave up 0 hits in 0 2/3 innings pitched. Cleveland now looks to Jose Fernandez to give them a great outing in game 3 as they try to get the series win in New York.

Jose Fernandez got the start for the Indians today and had a decent start but ended up getting his 2nd loss of the season, Cleveland now heads home for a 4 game set against a struggling Blue Jays team.
