I've hooked my Wii back up downstairs, so I'm going to continue this log. I might as well pick up where I left off. It is currently May 1st, and the White Sox stand in 1st place with an 18-10 record, a game in front of the Minnesota Twins. Daiki Hirayama has been the best hitter on the club so far, batting .388. Carlos Sanchez leads the team in stolen bases with 8. Nick Swisher is dominating the MLB with 8 HR and 32 RBI. Pitching has been sub par for the Sox this year, and will need to improve if the Sox are to avenge a 3-1 defeat to the Yanks in the 2008 ALDS.

We finally got back to the diamond for the first time in what feels like 7 months.

Chicago White Sox 20-11 @ Seattle Mariners 13-18

Early into the first inning, Nick Swisher drilled his 9th homer of the season into right field. Later in the 3rd inning, Joe Crede hit his second homer of the season, a two-run blast to left. However, it was a rough day for Buehrle as he allowed four runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Sox put one up in the fifth, although they stranded two runners. The Mariners broke the tie in the 6th, putting an end to Mark Buehrle's disappointing night. Nick Swisher played the hero again, tying it at 5 in the 7th. Brian Roberts drove home Daiki Hirayama to give the Sox a crucial 6-5 lead. Justin Duchscherer slammed the door, giving the White Sox a 6-5 win.

W- Farnsworth 2-0
S- Duchscherer 9

We took on the Detroit Tigers at home to start a key divisional series.

Detroit Tigers 20-15 @ Chicago White Sox 23-12
Chicago's pitching issues were exploited early, as Detroit plated two in the first. However, Chicago's offense struck right back with two runs of their own. Nick Swisher hit his 11th homer in the 3rd to make it 3-2 Sox. Detroit jumped up 4-3 in the 5th. Daiki Hirayama tied it up with a bomb to left. The lead was short-lived, as Detroit took another lead, 6-4. Daiki Hirayama tied it up again with yet another homer. Kyle Farnsworth blew it in the 14th, giving up 5 runs. However, the Sox have a fighting spirit, scoring 4 runs in the 14th, including Jim Thome's 550th career home run, but it wasn't enough as Detroit won 11-10.

We went to Boston to take on the defending champions.

Chicago White Sox 35-17 @ Boston Red Sox 33-19

The White Sox scored first on an RBI single by Brian Roberts. The White Sox put on two more in the second, taking a commanding 3-0 lead. The Red Sox put one back up in the bottom half of that inning. Nick Swisher continued his tear, and hit his 16th homer, giving the White Sox a 6-2 lead. Chicago added another insurance run in the 9th, making it 7-2. However, Chicago collapsed, and Boston scored five runs, sending it to extras. Ozzie Guillen was infuriated. Finally the tie was broken in the 12th on a 2-run shot by Viciedo. Daiki Hirayama plated another run with a triple, making it 10-7. Latroy Hawkins sealed the deal, and the White Sox avoided a scare.
