Chicago Cubs New Co-GMs

The Chicago Cubs have just announced that they will have Co-GMs. The GMs will be ex-Rays GM Joe Maddon and inexperienced GM Cole Campbell. The new GMs have said they would like to bring this team to the top by having a fast offense and have a dominant pitching staff. With the Cubs picking up Joe Maddon and Cole Campbell they have also picked up Jon Lester and traded for Miguel Montero. There is also word on twitter that the Cubs are looking for foreign talent. The Cubs now have a shot at making the playoffs in the next couple of years with these pickups.

I got on the phone with Relief Pitcher Hoshi Fujikawa.
"Hey Hoshi how much would it cost me to get you to come over to the Cubs?"
"I want a 4 year 22 million dollar contract."
"I dont think I want to offer you a long contract because I dont know how well you will do in the bigs so how about a 1 year 6 million dollar contract?"
"Fine I will take the contract, but if i do well you better offer me a BIG contract."
"We will see what happens, but its time to focus on the present not the future. Thanks I will see you in a week."

On the mound today for the Chicago Cubs is Arrieta 0-1 5.40 ERA and he will compete with Gerrit Cole 0-1 5.40 ERA for the Pirates. The player to look for today is Miguel Montero .438 AVG 1 HR 2 RBI.

A clutch hit by Soler put the Cubs up 2-0 in the first inning with a 2 RBI single. Arrieta was putting in WORK, but he was a little wild so he got tired early. He lasted until the 5th when Pedro Alvarez hit a 3 run homer to knock the lead down to 1 as the Cubs were still winning 4-3. Snider came to the plate for the Pirates and hit a ground ball to second, but there was an error and a runner on 3rd would score to tie it up at 4. In the 7th inning Anthony Rizzo took a 1 run lead for the Cubs on a RBI double. Once again Soler comes up clutch with another 2 run RBI double to make the lead 7-4. We kept tacking on runs and won 12-4.

Just FYI, Joe Maddon was just the field manager for the Rays, not the General Manager (GM).

On the hill today for the Cubs is Edwin Jackson (0-0 9.60 ERA) and he will go up against Jacob DeGrom (1-1 4.34 ERA) of the Mets.

Early in the 1st inning Castro came to the plate and hit a 3-run homer to put the Cubs up with a commanding 3-0 to start the game. After the 1st inning it was a pitchers dual until it got ugly in the 7th inning when our leadoff hitter Coghlan hit a solo homerun to make it a 6-2 lead. then when the mets came to hit in the 8th there first 4 hitters got hits and the last hitter hit a homerun to tie up the game at 6. it came to the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs a runner on second and we had to pinch hit for the pitch. Olt came to the plate. Olt ended up striking out looking (cause my batteries went out and i couldnt do anything about it.) The Cubs came to play here in extras as the first 2 hitters got on base then Castro came to hit and got a walkoff single to win it 7-6.
