Rangersmvp, I'm going to ask of you to not comment in this thread anymore unless it has anything to do with the Log/Team/Players/ And I don't need a post back saying, "ok, i understand".

March 30, 2008 - Sunshowers Re-Instate Maddon as Skipper
The search for a manager is finally over, as the Sunshowers have re-signed Joe Maddon, former Rays manager, to a new 2-yr contract. Maddon is excited to be part of the new organization and can't wait to manage the team. The Sunshowers open their season tomorrow on the road in Baltimore as they take on the Orioles.

That doesn't make a lick of sense.

March 31, 2008 - MLB Opening Day - Sunshowers At Orioles
The gates were opened, fans came rushing in, and the Orioles came rushing off the field. The Sunshowers went on for batting practice, and were greeted to raucous cheers. "Aren't we the visiting team?" Willard Deutschebog asked to his fellow relievers as they shagged BP and signed autographs. Many Jacksonville fans came to the game to support the newest team in baseball. Everyone was there - except for Equanimeous Jackson.

"20 minutes late." Manager Joe Maddon said to Jackson as he entered the clubhouse. "Sorry Skip," Jackson replied, "The bus left without me.". That wasn't the truth, and Maddon knew it. What he didn't know was what Jackson was actually doing, so he let the lie slide. "If you're late again, there will be consequences." Maddon said to Jackson as the skipper walked to the dugout. On his way to the field, Jackson checked the lineup card posted in the clubhouse. Jackson had gotten everything he ever wanted in life, so he wasn't surprised to see his name next to the number 3 spot in the order. He was surprised, however, to see the position of SS next to his name, not DH. "Hey skip, let me talk to you for a second," Jackson said, calling Maddon over, showing him the lineup card. "You know I'm here to hit, not to play the field.". "I know you're here for the money, not to play.", Maddon responded, walking away. "Whatever," Jackson mumbled as he made his way to the field, ignoring the young fans behind the dugout begging for autographs.

Not soon after, Bob Oblong finished his warmups and jogged over to the dugout railing to sign for the fans. He soon heard Maddon calling for him, and walked into the dugout to greet the manager. "Bob, I have some bad news.". What could this be, Oblong wondered to himself. He was starting in CF and batting second. "I just got off the phone with the doctor. Your father's condition is getting worse and worse.". Oblong's trademark smile turned to a look of disbelief. "If you want to be with him, I understand.". "No," Oblong replied. "He'd be playing, and he'd want me to play. So today, I'll play for him". Oblong then walked into the clubhouse to get a drink of water, and to clear his thoughts.

In the clubhouse, at his locker, stood Hirokazu Oshima, the Japanese phenom who today would make his Major League debut. One of the most hyped International players of all time, the Sunshowers won the bidding to sign him over the offseason, and he tries to show them that he worth every penny of his contract. He was not alone to his thoughts, however, as dozens of sports news reporters tried to interview him. Oshima's translator held back the reporters as Hirokazu made his way to the bullpen. Fans ran over to the bullpen area to get a glimpse of the phenom. Cameras were flashing. The fans were chanting, yelling and screaming at him. Oshima was used to this from his playing days in Japan, but something about today felt different. His first warmup reached a high velocity, but sailed way over the catcher's head. The fans made a shocked reaction. Oshima's next pitch reached to 100's, but bounced 5 feet in front of his battery mate. "That's enough," Oshima said in Japanese to the pitching coach as he ran into the clubhouse, where the reporters had been cleared. "What's wrong with him?", the coach asked Oshima's translator. "He's nervous," the translator replied. "Well he's starting for us today! He better be ready by game time."

Game time came, and the Orioles took the field. The first batter in the history of the Jacksonville Sunshowers was 25 year old Chinese-American second baseman Quentin MacFarlane, who dug in facing Daniel Cabrera. He grounded out to second base on the third pitch he saw. Bob Oblong stood in and roped a single to right. After Equanimeous Jackson struck out looking, Johnny Patricola stood in and jacked the first offering he got to left field. When it came down, Jacksonville led 2-0.

Everyone in the dugout greeted Patricola with smiles, cheers, and hi-fives. Everyone was excited. But not Hirokazu Oshima. He took the mound in the bottom of the frame and elected to forgo his warmup pitches, much to the surprise of his battery-mate Benjamin Goodwin. Orioles 2B Brian Roberts stood in and took the first offering, a 104-mph fastball, right down the middle for strike one. "Tell him to keep doing that," the Sunshowers pitching coach told Oshima's translator, who, confusedly, almost entered the field to talk with the star pitcher but was held back by Joe Maddon. Roberts singled back up the middle on the second pitch. On the next pitch, Roberts ran for second, and made it easily on the weak arm of Goodwin. Two strikes later, Oshima was ahead of Melvin Mora 1-2. But Oshima hung a curveball, which Mora disposed of off the left field foul pole. Tie game.

The bench was deflated, but no one took it harder than Oshima. Goodwin went to console the pitcher, and it worked, as he retired the rat of the side in order. Later, in the third, Oshima faced DH Aubrey Huff with two men in scoring position and two out. With first base open, Goodwin thought ahead of the game and called for an intentional walk. The bases were loaded, and the game tied at two, for young CF Adam Jones. Oshima got Jones on a come backer to end the inning. Leading off the fourth inning was Patricola, who again jumped on a fastball and hit one to left-center, 433 feet and into the Jacksonville bullpen. 3-2 Sunshowers.

The lead would not hold for long, however, as Baltimore's Melvin Mora and Nick Markakis opened the bottom of the fifth with a pair of doubles to tie the game at 3. The inning would continue to rough for Oshima, as he was smacked around for 6 more runs before his departure. The phenom exited his first big league start with only 4.2 IP, 2 K's and down 9-3. Daniel "DaDa" Radice replaced him and got Luke Scott to ground out with the bases loaded.

Tim Johnson cut into the lead with a solo shot off Cabrera with two outs in the sixth, and Radice pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the frame to keep Jacksonville in the game. In the top of the seventh, Patricola drove in Juan Toothree with a two-out single, and Lars McConaughey followed with a single to score Equanimeous Jackson. Garrett House added a two-run double, and just like that, the Sunshowers were back in the game. Javy Baez replaced Daniel Cabrera, and escaped the inning by inducing a Tim Johnson ground out. However, Jacksonville was now only down by one, as it was 9-8. Radice pitched another scoreless frame in the bottom half of the seventh to keep Baltimore off the board, but Baez retaliated for the Orioles with a 1-2-3 inning of his own.

The Orioles tacked another run off Oscar Bell and Juan Carlos Rodriguez in the bottom of the eighth, and led 10-8 into the top of he ninth. Oblong, Jackson, and Patricola would face Fernando Cabrera. Oblong lined out to second, and Jackson capped off an 0-5 day with a chopper to short. Patricola kept the game alive by roping a double, and was replaced by the fleet-footed Jim Johnson at second base. Lars McConaughey kept hope alive with an RBI single to right, and Garrett House jacked the first pitch he got to deep right center. From the crack of the bat, it looked gone. But it soon started to fall, and it looked like a double into the gap. But Nick Markakis ran it down with an unbelievable catch to seal the game for the Orioles.

As Balitmore celebrated on the field, House slammed his helmet in frustration, and Joe Maddon could only shake his head. And in the clubhouse, Hirokazu Oshima was waiting to tell his manager some devastating news.

Final: Baltimore Orioles 10, Jacksonville Sunshowers 9

W: Daniel Cabrera (1-0) L: Hirokazu Oshima (0-1) S: Fernando Cabrera (1)

HR: (BAL) Melvin Mora (1). (JAX) Johnny Patricola (1,2) Tim Johnson (1)

His breaking balls were pretty bad, and he tired out in the 5th. But something else happened with him during the game...
