Tough loss, but I'm very impressed with the Deustche's first performance. Striking out Jose Lopez is no small feat...he's pretty amazing!

Even tougher though is that pitching loss. Is Brad Brad still in the rotation? I have a feeling he'll step it up.

It certainly was a rough loss. I thought for sure they would play extras, but...
And yes, Brad Brad is still in the rotation. I don't play all the games, I mostly sim, but he's pitching on Jackie Robinson Day against the Yankees, so I'll write about that game for ya.

Its no obLONGBALL but Pattie's is still good

It will be rare to see an obLONGBALL but Patricola's the best slugger on the team. Might get a Silver Slugger award.

Is this the same Brad Brad who had maxed-out everything?

April 15, 2008 - Sunshowers Vs Yankees - Jackie Robinson Day
Bottom of the second, two on, one out. Benjamin Goodwin stood in for the Jacksonville Sunshowers, who were trailing 1-0. He looked at the third base coach's signals. A bunt? It couldn't be. And it wouldn't be. He swung away and lined the first pitch up the middle. Bases juiced with one out for Juan Toothree, who blooped a Texas Leaguer into right-center field to score two and give the Sunshowers the lead. The third base coach, waiving his arms for the other two runners, could not give Goodwin a sign, so he continued to run. He would have been out by a mile, but the throw went home.

"What the hell are you doing?" The third base coach said to Goodwin as he stood up after a slide. "Helping our team," Goodwin replied swiftly. "Dumb decisions like that don't help us at all!" the coach replied. "Well, what's the score?" replied Goodwin. "You don't realize how lucky you are, you little -" Luckily for Goodwin, the conversation ended swiftly as Bob Oblong drove him in from third with an RBI single, improving his hit streak to 5 games. When he got to the dugout, he began to get his gear on after Equanimeous Jackson's RBI double, improving the lead to 4-1. But he already saw Hank Creak with his set of gear on. "Goodwin," Maddon yelled, "Take a seat. You've been benched for tonight."

In his first major league game behind the plate, the rookie Creak made some questionable calls early. He called for Brad Brad to pitch to, not around, Alex Rodriguez, who disposed of a change-up over the left field fence for a 384 ft. two-run bomb. The Sunshowers' lead was now only 1. Creak and Brad settled in after that, and the game stayed scoreless into the 8th inning.

Brad Brad was still in, facing A-Rod with Bobby Abreu on at first after a leadoff single. Maddon kept Brad in, even though he was showing signs of fatigue. Creak walked to the mound to talk things over with Brad. "All right, let's keep it low, and hope for the double play," Creak told Brad. An 0-1 curve was grounded to second. MacFarlane tossed it to Jackson, who turned it to Patricola. 4-6-3 DP, and the threat was averted.

At least it almost was. Jason Giambi stood up next and walloped a 370 ft solo dinger to right, tying the game at 4 in the 8th. Robinson Cano flew out to end the inning. Brad pitched into the 10th inning, feeling fine, until Derek Jeter crushed a go-ahead 423 ft blast to left. 5-4 Yankees. Juan Carlos Rodriguez came on in relief and struck out the side.

Mariano Rivera came in, needing three outs for a save. He would face the top of the Jacksonville order. Oblong and MacFarlane grounded to first, and Jackson struck out to end it. Another disappointing loss for the Sunshowers, as they fall 5-4 to the New York Yankees in 10 innings.

Yanks are a pain, personal experience. (3 straight 1 - 0 games, one 11 inning, one 16 inning.

I'm thinking maybe next time you remove my client from the game when he's giving up bombs in the 8th inning...just saying.
