I am new to the game and started My Life with a speedy, contract oriented second baseman.

He was born with 70 power: after 9 months of practice, barbells, etc, he has 71 power, closing in on 72. His trajectory is 1 (I chose line drive hitter) and has never improved at all. At this rate, I doubt that he will ever hit a homerun

I assume that there are probably a few tricks to get him to progress faster than he has been. I haven't played golf yet. What else am I missing?

There are a few tips and tricks to creating MyLife players, but there is a sort of guide to doing this. Just go here:

you should be fine (and maybe make a player who'll hit a lot of dingers in his career) Also, welcome to the forums (I don't know if you read my PM yet)! :D :woot:

what's his CON first of all (better contact will help you get more solid hits), and I had the same problem.
I have 1 homer in 50something games in the majors, and don't forget about trying for an inside-the-park HR.
Just focus on contact for a while too, and try buying something to increase the power you get in practice. That helped me a lot.
and yeah, the topic dishnet referred to is really in depth.

Well, it's just annoying. I created a reasonably good hitting prospect, within the confines of the game's usual rules, without looking up any tricks or cheats. And the guy will never hit a homerun. There is something messed up with the design of it

Yeah, just golf and you should be fine. Do the weight training as often as possible.
And FYI there are no cheats in this game.

Unless you have a PS2 and GameShark or whatever it is, which apparently you don't. See Ian for more details.

If you play golf you will eventually get to where you can raise your pwr about 80% of the time and it's the highest power gain you can get. It also stacks with protein. However you won't consistently get the gain until you are at least a B/C level golfer. But you can gain 1 pt every week to ten days if you play golf and use protein.
To raise your trajectory read hitting (advanced) or baseball biography.
