"Let's go Storm... let's go!" An excited crowd of roughly four hundred chanted. Everything was riding on this game... the future for most of Storm's teammates and of course, his own. He was never good with the bat or the ball, but he was handy with the glove. Sadly, with two men out and the winning run on third, the Highlander's worst batter was up. He entered the batter's box, putting his bat down on the base, taking a step back, readjusting his batting gloves and finally sighing. He looked at the pitcher gulped, then looked at the catcher. Storm looked at the crowd. He saw his mother and girlfriend; his two biggest fans. "Let's go Storm! You just have to get on base!"

"There is only one problem with that... I barely have a batting average! BARELY!" Storm exclaimed in his own mind. He was literally second guessing himself - something a good ballplayer never does. "Well... here I go..." Storm whispered under his breath. He made the sign of the cross and said a short and sweet prayer, hoping that God would watch over his at bat. He kissed his silver cross, put his batting helmet down some and stepped into the box, grabbing his bat. He choked up on said black bat and looked at the pitcher, waiting for the ball to be released.

"He's the worst batter on the team, set him down on strikes, pitcher!" The opposing team's catcher exclaimed at the top of his lungs. He wanted to give his team's closer some confidence against the already faint-hearted Storm.

"Ignore him, Storm! You're a great asset to this team and a great friend!" The Highlander's Manager Vince Maddon exclaimed. He wanted to give his hitter some confidence at the plate, basically to just counteract what the other team's catcher is doing. Anyway, the pitcher entered his windup and Storm kicked his foot up, beginning his swing. The pitcher began to loosen up his grip on the ball before turning to third. He attempted to pick off the runner on third, but he balked. The ball soared over the third baseman's head and to the wall... the runner headed for home.

Storm, upon instinct, moved himself out of the way of the runner and cheered him on. The fielder rushed for the ball but he was slow and by the time he got there the umpire already declared the game in favor of the Highlanders. "The Highlanders win it! The Highlanders win it in (un)dramatic fashion!" The announcer cheered. The crowd erupted in a sea of excitement. Everyone jumped up and down, hugged their neighbor and screamed at the top of their lungs...

"WE ARE THE STATE CHAMPIONS!"

Storm Weathers smiled, shook his teammates hand and walked off the field. He went 0-5 that day, the only contribution he had was with his glove... he saved a few runs but failed to score many. Suddenly, he was stopped by a large man. He smiled and looked at Storm...

"A man's dreams are only an index to his greatness. I'll see you in the majors one day, kid." Storm was unaware he was talking to a Major League Scout, so he only joked...

"Yeah, and I'll be a Hall of Famer, too!" He said sarcastically... and so it began...
