Hey guys, I am new here. I have a question for you:

What is the deepest you have gone into Life Mode?

The deepest I have gone is about 5 years, then I got bored.

I also did a seperate file for just 1 year to see what happens when you retire, pretty cool.

But if you do a 20 year career, can you make the HOF? Is your number retired?

I went 19 years with one of my guys. He still had it in him to either start or close, but to quote Toby Keith, he wasn't as good as he once was, and the collection of bums and has-beens around him stunk. One thing I know: if you are even able to last 14-15 innings, you have damn good stamina. If you manage to go that long and STILL get either a loss or a no-decision, the batters around you really suck.

I believe I am in the 6th year of the player I first started with right when I got the game. A non success player, which means he stunk.

But I have saved and loaded multiple times, because of no-decisions and whatnot.

At the end of year 5, I had 27 wins, 0 losses and 0.00 era.

It is a long process, and I do wonder what happens late in the game when you get to year 20, because I know that your stats decrease with age.

i went 3 years with one guy, and i haven't made it through one season since.
With my new slugger, though (F+ B+ E D+ E+), I've made it to the draft with a 62 game hit streak, a .544 avg, 12 HR, over 200 hits, and 33 SB's.
For some reason, the Giants play me at first base instead of my natural second base, and i only get 3 AB's a game before they pull me for Aurilia... :(

no kidding...my guy was hitting 105 on the gun when he turned 35. at age 38, the ol heater wasn't even hitting 90 anymore. veteran savvy, a still very effective knuckler and insane stamina (as well as knowing how to pace myself). main reason I retired in season 19 was that I couldn't take one more season of Orioles futility. everybody was either over the hill or naturally awful with the bat, so there were two options, really: start, know not to expect much run support, and also know that one mistake will likely be the difference between winning and losing; or close, and rot in the bullpen because of the hitting woes. Basically, when you can go 15-16 innings and STILL get a no decision, it's time to hang em up.

I once just fastforwarded with a guy, but my current player, I've gone either six or seven seasons, and I have never simmed at all with him.

I gotten to free agency too, it's actually a fun process some teams offer you "incentives" like the Phillies offered me a 5yr 30mil deal but part of the deal was hit 30 homers.

I started at age 18 and am now 32 that comes out 14 years. I still occasionally do the character too. Am looking to become the all-time leader in stolen bases. My power is finally up to B but at this point in my career it's probably to late to beat the all-time home run record help be Hank Aaron.

Yeah, i've always considered the "non-roids" records pretty big accomplishments. I beat it awhile ago with that player for single season homers, and i plan to eventually beat the japanese guy who had like, 830 or something. I made this player to be an all-out base stealer, but his power game has really picked up. I'll have henderson soon.

Sort of, but add 14 years of age to Wake. And he's still playing.

On my team, the draft picks haven't taken over yet.

I did a file with a guy who hit a home run almost every at bat and when he didn't, he stole bases. It got so boring after 5 or 6 years, I already had the 30million dollar contract and all A's so I started a new file with a starting pitcher.

The pitcher struck everyone out but I never got any runs, it was so frustrating. So I made a closer.

He was fun for a while, but he got too good also.

So then I decided, hey I don't need to do a success mode guy. I did one of those guys you make from scratch and he sucked, but I wanted to work up from the minors. The thing is, he stayed sucky. The thing about PP I don't like is that players progress in skills so slowly. I remember in PP07 Dustin Pedroia sucked, but in 2008 he became a superstar. That can't happen in Life Mode or Season mode, they stay sucky forever.

So I have never gotten past my first year of free agency.
