To start off the 2013 spring training, my stats are looking like this:

Top Speed: 100 MPH
Control: D 130
Stamina: B 127

SIFB: 2
SNK: 4
CHG: 2

I really am getting better every year, I mean, when I started out my stats were more like:

Top Speed: 92 MPH
Control: E 115
Stamina: C 95

SIFB: 1
SNK: 1
CHG: 1

I should learn a curveball sometime in the coming seasons though.

Spring Training 2013:

Game 1: 3 innings pitched, 1 strikeout, no runs allowed

Game 2: 3 innings pitched, 3 strikeouts, 2 runs allowed

Game 3: 3 innings pitched, 1 strikeout, no runs allowed

Game 4: 3 innings pitched, 1 strikeout, 1 run allowed

We traded Figgins for Utley, don't know if that'll help us make the playoffs, I doubt it though.

Followed through on my vow to not trust my coach again and refused him when he asked me to make a contribution, I'll donate money on my own, not because I'm forced to donate millions because my coach screwed up big.

Wow, what a start to the season for me and the whole team, this is what I've wanted all along, to play for a winning team. I have to kind of question why we're winning. Was it the acquisition of Utley through trade? The new additions of Roy Hallady and Brandon Webb (who for some reason always has a ridiculously bad ERA...)? Whatever it was, the Athletics really exploded out of the gate, ending the month in the middle of a 13 game winning streak.

Maybe I won't have to leave at the end of this season after all, maybe that's why our team is finally putting some effort forth, they want me to stay. Of course, this is only the beginning, there's plenty of time left for us to go on several horrible losing streaks and finish nowhere near the playoffs like so many other years. I don't expect us to keep up this pace, but I hope we can still manage to win, and at least fight for a playoff spot.

I figured last month was probably a fluke, I mean, we didn't do terrible this month, but we barely had more wins than losses and gave up all of the lead we had in the division. And we were so close to several more wins that would have gone a long way to help us, a bad bullpen and a game of poor run support are the reason my record is only 4-2, if it wasn't for that, my record could easily be something like 7-1, I have an ERA that's in the top ten MLB pitchers after all. There are worse pitchers who already have 7 wins, much worse. I donated $1000 for Mother's Day, as usual...

Okay, maybe it was our average month that was the fluke instead of our good month, or maybe we're just a team that won't find any consistency anywhere, either way, we're on top and I like it. We could have a few more wins if it weren't for more struggles in run support, scoring just 2 runs in the last 3 games to lose them all and enter July on a losing streak. Our pitching in general has been a bit worse that month overall as well, neither me nor Halladay are top ten pitchers as the rankings go now. He's 13th and I'm 17th. And he has a 10-0 record, he's really lucky with run support...

Donated $1000 for Father's Day, at this point, I don't believe these donations are worth mentioning, and will stop mentioning them now.

Not a good month for me or the team, seems like I have no control over how my pitching goes, I can be dominant one month and have my ERA double in the next without doing anything differently. It's really annoying. We're going to have to come back with a good month next month because I guarantee if we play at this pace for any longer the other teams are going to pick it up and pass us. It just seems like every game I pitch that results in a win, someone else gets credit, but when I pitch in a loss, it's always me that gets that...

This month I found out Emma is pregnant, again. I must say I kind of expected this, after she seemed to refuse to do anything I asked her to because she didn't feel like it. It's a good thing having children doesn't cost money or anything, then this would probably be getting to be a bad situation.

Well, my team almost listened to what I wanted them to do, except where I wanted them to pick up their play, they picked it up and threw it right out the window. We managed a few wins against some horrible teams, but I'm just about done with this team. I was considering staying with them after the start we had, but this is just getting ridiculous. At best, we can hope to scratch into the Wild Card spot, but unless we start playing about 100 times better we don't even have the slightest chance of managing that. I've been wanting to be a 15 game winner for years now, but with this team's offense and bullpen, it's just not going to happen, ever.

Well, we're in the playoffs, not nearly as decisively as we made the playoffs the other time, but maybe this is better, obviously it didn't work out for us too well last time. Maybe we can make the second round this time. Us making the playoffs was pure luck, any team in our division could have managed it, it's just because all of the teams in the division were so close to each other that a late lucky win or two was all we needed to clinch it. We were one game ahead of the Rangers, and the Angels, who were coming off a World Series win, came in last in the division this year. So I may not know who I would possibly want to sign with if teams don't play consistently, the only team that seems to consistently finish well are the Yankees, and I'm not going to play for them. Halladay got 21 wins for us, how lucky can one pitcher get?!

In the first round, we're going up against the Yankees, I'm just hoping history doesn't repeat itself. So, I suppose as long as we don't win the first two games, we're fine.

Any input on which team I should go to after the playoffs assuming I have a choice? I'm thinking I would try the Cubs, they finished in a tie for 1st in the MLB, and I have some friends on that team, only one still there in the majors is F.Rodriguez, who I pretty much just met and never did anything with. Oakley used to be there, but I guess he got traded again.

Playoffs:

Game 1: Yankees win 5-3

Game 2: Yankees win 3-1

Game 3: Yankees win 8-6, I pitched this game, didn't expect run support based on our whole season and this playoff run, but when I got it I apparently just completely blew it

Rest of Playoffs:

Round 1:

Mariners over White Sox 3-0
Nationals over Dodgers 3-2
Diamondbacks over Cubs 3-2

Round 2:

Yankees over Mariners 4-3 (Mariners were down 3-0 and forced game 7...)
Nationals over Diamondbacks 4-3 (Nationals were down 3-0 and came back to win the series!)

World Series Final:

Yankees over Nationals 4-1

I'm getting annoyed with the lack of parity in this league, I mean, how can a team possibly make the last round of the playoffs and find themselves losing by ridiculous scores like 14-1 and not even putting up a fight? I might as well sign with the damn Yankees, nobody else ever wins in this stupid league.

I had a little bit of a change of heart going through contract negotiations, not in wanting to stay with the Athletics, oh God, anything but that. But I changed my mind about a little money being more important than winning.

After weeks of negotiation, I rejected a $16 million deal to take my chances in free agency, not many offers came from other teams, in fact, there were only two, I guess I did have a bad season last year... Luckily enough, however, one of those offers came from the Cubs, and I gladly signed it. It's a 2 year contract of almost $14 million per year, they simply expect me to reach double figures in wins, seems easy enough to accomplish. I mean, I got 12 wins with the Athletics in an off-year, how hard can it be, really?

I paid my agent, Darryl, almost $700000 for his work. With this contract, if I choose to, I may actually be able to pay off my house this year, but I'll probably just keep putting it off in favor of fancy training equipment, that's just how I am. Actually, I can barely even find room to put all my stuff, typical, now that I'm almost done paying off my house, I'm already wanting a bigger one. Oh well, what can you do?

My manager and coach both said goodbye and wished me the best, my coach even gave me a farewell present, a single bottle of a sports drink... Well, thanks... I threw it out as I was leaving.
