End of May stats: 2.57 ERA, 3-4 record, 92 strikeouts
Chicago Cubs record: 31-23, 1 game ahead of second place Cardinals

This month, I somehow broke my sauna suit. I had no idea that was possible and have no idea how I did it, but it's done, and I needed a new one. I called the trainer and asked about buying a new one. He said he would deliver one right away, and hung up before I could ask him the price, no wonder, he charged me $10,000 for it. I'm never talking to that damn scam artist again, ever. That's the most ridiculous markup I've ever seen, how much would it cost to make one sauna suit? God...

Anyway, I'm rambling here (the bastard, $10,000...), as for the month itself, it was pretty average. My personal run-support has been falling asleep, but the team as a whole isn't doing that bad. We are holding first place in the division, but just barely.

Well, when a comic book is $300, it doesn't seem that bad

With this post, this log has been used in 4 different years. (real time) And I still can't get to the second round of the playoffs here.

---

End of June stats: 2.50 ERA, 8-5 record, 140 strikeouts
Chicago Cubs record: 48-33, 5 games ahead of second place Brewers

After so much of my practice equipment this month broke, and the store didn't carry any replacements, I started playing chess even at home, it's getting pretty boring, but at least I'm getting a little better at it. It's too bad there doesn't seem to be any practical use for the game.

In baseball news, my team and myself have both performed better, resulting in my ERA lowering and my record looking much better, with the team pulling into a more comfortable division lead. I'd want to extend that lead though, obviously, one bad week could lose the lead just like that. I'm leading the MLB in strikeouts this year, and my career numbers are getting pretty high as well, but I need to spend a lot more years in the MLB before I can compete with any career leaders, and that goes with other pitching categories as well.

Like Vicente Valtieri himself, this log doesn't die.

...

Unless some stupid new guy shows up and murders it acting on some completely asinine orders, but what are the odds of that happening?

End of July stats: 2.29 ERA, 12-5 record, 178 strikeouts
Chicago Cubs record: 64-42, 8 games ahead of second place Brewers

I accepted the Pitcher of the Month Award for June with 5 wins, a 2.38 ERA, and 58 strikeouts in the month.

Due to some very odd scheduling, the month of July only had us play one series at home, three games against the Reds. As a result, I didn't really practice very much, and just played around with chess games on the road. I feel myself becoming slightly better at chess, but still not good at all, those jerks on the Internet keep beating me.

I made the All-Star Game, as the starting pitcher of course, I'm starting to get used to being an All-Star.

July was a good month for me personally as well as the Cubs team, I only improved my stats further, I can feel another Pitcher of the Month award coming in soon, and the Cubs extended their division lead. Now we just have to hold that lead another couple months and we'll be on our way to another playoff appearance, hopefully one that goes somewhere, I know my career isn't really even close to over, but I'd like to make a good playoff run while I'm in my prime.

End of August stats: 2.35 ERA, 15-6 record, 241 strikeouts
Chicago Cubs record: 81-52, 8 games ahead of second place Brewers

As expected, I won the Pitcher of the Month for July, with 4 wins, a 1.52 ERA, and 38 strikeouts, if I can go ahead and win the next couple months I should be in the running for Pitcher of the Year later.

I decided to finally upgrade my house, moving out of a Luxury Condo and into a Luxury Mansion. I'll be paying it off over at most 10 years, but likely sooner assuming I can get good contracts every year, it'll cost $100,000,000 overall, but I should be able to pay it, and with a family of 5 already, I figure it's only a matter of time before I'll need a 6 car garage anyway, right? Oakley even came by to comment on my new house, I guess being stuck in the Tigers AAA organization, he didn't have anything better to do than fly into Chicago to comment on my life.

I won a Player of the Week award in August, these are hard to get for pitchers, but in the 20th week of the season, I won it for having 1 win, a 0.00 ERA and 17 strikeouts.

At the end of the month, the coach reminded me of September call-ups, as if I would forget, and he told me not to let any of them outplay me. I hope he was joking, if any of the call-ups outplay me, they can probably be the future of the franchise if they're consistent.

August went pretty well though, my ERA rose slightly but it's still pretty good, and the Cubs kept their division lead on the Brewers. I could easily see myself winning the next Pitcher of the Month as well, and, as I lead the MLB in ERA and strikeouts, and lead the NL in wins, the Pitcher of the Year is in my sights as well. Although I'd rather win the World Series, but it's not like winning other awards decreases the chances of that happening.

End of 2017 stats: 2.35 ERA, 19-7 record, 298 strikeouts
MLB career stats to this point: 3.30 ERA, 2036.1 innings pitched, 151-89 record, 26 shutouts, 39 complete games, 1977 strikeouts, 528 walks, .236 average against, 778 runs allowed, 747 earned runs, 316 games started, 1864 hits allowed, 31723 pitches, 179 quality starts
Chicago Cubs record: 100-62, DIVISION WINNERS

I didn't win Pitcher of the Month for August, but I wound up getting it in September with 4 wins, a 2.36 ERA and 56 strikeouts.

The Cubs have a lot of momentum going into the playoffs this year, we finished with a better record than last year, even managing to get up to 100 wins, and 7 games better than the second best team in the MLB. I was actually the winning pitcher for our 100th win, which was a pretty nice experience.

As for me personally? Well, I won the MLB Triple Crown for pitching again (back to back seasons now), dominating the league in ERA and strikeouts while leading in wins by 3. No big deal. I'd say I should earn Pitcher of the Year no problem, that would be my 5th Pitcher of the Year Award if that indeed becomes the case. After this year, it seems the only awards I'll have just won once will be Rookie of the Year, and probably Fielder of the Year if I don't win that this year.

Now, enough fooling around, we need to get out of the first round of the playoffs this year...

Holy guacamole, I've never really fiddled around with a pitcher in my life. And clearly they get really good if you don't suck with the remote. Nice job.

Pitcher of the year for you is right around the corner, and maybe a mlb championship.

Chicago pitchers won all of the individual titles for stats this year. Me of course winning the Triple Crown with ERA, Wins, and Strikeouts, and our closer Galarraga leading in saves with 36.

2017 Playoffs:

Round 1 Matchups:

Los Angeles Angels vs. Kansas City Royals
Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees
Florida Marlins vs. Chicago Cubs
Atlanta Braves vs. San Diego Padres

Cubs results:

Game 1: Cubs lose 4-1

Game 2: Cubs lose 7-5

Game 3: Cubs lose 5-2, Marlins finish sweep

Other playoff results:

Angels over Royals 3-1
Yankees over Tigers 3-0
Braves over Padres 3-1

Angels over Yankees 4-3
Braves over Marlins 4-3

Angels over Braves 4-0 to win the 2017 World Series

Well that was a pretty damn anticlimactic playoff run. We win 100 games in the regular season and we can't win 1 in the playoffs? What the hell is that? More importantly, what's wrong with this stupid manager? You have a starting pitcher that wins back to back Triple Crowns, wins Pitcher of the Year on a regular basis, and you never schedule him to start until game 4? I'm a huge part of why this team has even gotten back into the playoffs again and I don't even get the chance to play?!

If I was making the decision now, I wouldn't re-sign on a team with a manager that possesses this level of undeniable stupidity, but I don't know what will ultimately happen when the Free Agency period comes up again...

I guess it wasn't a terrible defeat considering what happened 14 years prior. (If you know what I mean :P )
