Bears' bats come out, knock Nakaushi out early

Chiba -- The Bears got the bats out early and didn't put them away until the 6th. Gunderson, Case, Dan, and Lockhart all contributed with homers, while Yamaguchi ripped 2. Matsukura also pitched a very solid game for the Bears, good enough for his 10th win of the season. Ishimine hit a home run, his sixth, for the Marines.

"I think he's waking up," Katrina exclaimed.

"Oh my gosh, his eyes are open!" I heard from the voice of a long time friend.

"WILLIE! WILLIE! I'm so glad you're awake!" Katrina had yelled in a tone of extreme excitement.

"Wup, wed is errone suh cite see me?" I fumbled in my speech, I instantly knew something was wrong.

"Why can' ah-ah tk? Wts wro wth muh?" I had no idea what was going on, I couldn't even find the words to use either.

"You've been in a coma for over 2 months Willie, you just woke up!" Katrina replied.

"Wht hapnd t'muh, why can' ah tk?" The lack of the ability to speak begun to anger me.

"It's ok Willie, get some rest, you had a very severe stroke. But you're on your way to recovery. The whole team is here to tell you something Will."

"WE WON MR. NATHAN!"

"Y'wun wt?"

"We beat the Giants! We won the championship Mr. Nathan! You got your first ring!"

After hearing this and finally comprehending what was going on, I immediately tried to jump up, but I had no strength in my lower body and was not able to get up.

After losing a ton of talent in the 2013 offseason because of clubhouse issues between star players and interim GM, Jai Kobayashi, the Bears hope to rebound this season after gaining some solid talent back. Returning GM, William Nathan brought on 7 new outfielders this season, after losing their 3 starters, all hoping to have a chance at becoming the future Bears stars this season. The pitching rotation is as solid as it was last year, but it was the Bears' bats that carried them last year. They hope to get 20 home run seasons from Kitoaji, Dan, and Bobby Crosby, and .270+ batting averages out of most of their new outfielders. It should be exciting to see what GM Nathan can put on the field for the Bears after winning the championship last year, and after some severe health issues last season.

NPB 2014 Opening Day

Sapporo -- The Bears new squad played well in this game. Maeda pitched well for the Bears, striking out 8, and giving up 2 runs, but he went for the no decision. Sergio Kamiya relieved him and pitched immensely well out of relief, finishing the game, and earning the W. The offense for the Bears produced well also, the highlight being a 3-R home run by Einishi to put the game away in the seventh.

Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles @ Sapporo Bears

Sapporo -- The Sapporo Bears prevailed again tonight in 38-year-old, Xavier Nicy's first start. He looked absolutely tremendous, going the distance, and allowing only 5 hits for the shutout. The bats were on again for the Bears, propelled by a pair of dingers from Gary, and a couple of ribbies from Bobby Crosby. The Golden Eagles had a huge chance to score in the 1st with none other than Kurihara at the dish with runners at the corners, but he choked and grounded into an inning ending double play. That was pretty much the only challenge Nicy faced all game, as all was smooth sailing after.

Hanshin -- The Bears came out with the bats tonight. They started out on fire, scoring 3 runs in the first inning, but then they were silenced until the seventh. Maeda looked good for the first two innings, but fell apart in the 3rd and 4th leading to an early shower for the star. Hattori Yamamura's bat was just on fire for the Tigers, homering twice and doubling once. Of course, the Bears totaled 21 hits as well as the Tigers as this game combined for 21 runs, 42 hits, and 8 home runs. Hopefully the next couple games between these two will not be as brutal to the pitching staffs.
