Ring, ring ring,

The phone at this hour? I thought. Who could that be? I picked up the phone and there was a familiar voice.

"Is this William Nathan?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"Hey Willie! What's going on!?"

"Who is this?"

"It's Nick, Nick Lockhart, you don't recognize my voice?"

"Nick?"

"It's been awhile eh Willie?"

"Yes, it really has, so how is life treating you Nick?"

"Well, I'm currently playing for the Round Rock Express, the Rangers AAA affiliates."

"Well, you know about my baseball career being ended eh Nick?"

"Yes, I'm really sorry for you, I haven't talked to you since the LLWS. I'm sorry about what happened to you."

"Well, I'm the GM for a Japanese Baseball team now."

"Really Will? I'm glad to hear."

"Yes, there will be an expansion draft for my new expansion team on January 5th."

"That sounds really cool. What's your team name?"

"Well, we are the Sapporo Bears and the other new tea  is the Kyoto Whalers."

"Hey, man, glad to hear, I gotta go I'm almost later for one of my winter workouts, I'll catch up with you tomorrow."

"Ok, talk to you later Nick."

I woke up on my bed in the morning thinking, how come Nick called me at such an opportune time, thinking about possibly getting him into the expansion draft and taking him. I thought about that magical 12-year old year and thought to myself, why did I have to trip over that sprinkler head.

(I know this would be such a perfect ending to an update but I feel the update is too short so...)

At lunchtime I decided to take the family into the city and eat at a fancy Italian restaurant. After that, we saw a weird Japanese anime movie. The crazy doll-looking girls were really creeping me out. That's when I got on my *iPhone* and started looking up stuff for my next scouting job. I had found a guy by the name of Toshiyuki Maeda. In one of the Independent Leagues in America he had pitched for a team called the Hawaii Skyhawks which was an all Japanese team. He was a knuckleballer which makes him my second knuckle balling scout. (Eek).

I think I'm already one, so I have a few players you can use now. Would you prefer a power hitting first baseman (4CACDDB), a speedy outfielder (2CDSCDC), or a third baseman with a good arm (3DCDADD)?

AnthonyP: Players don't get scouted until May.

MrLiamcar: You are now a scout and the hitting coach position has opened up to anyone!

The next day, Yusef called me up and told me that he thought he'd make a better scout than a hitting coach. So, my three scout positions were filled up but I would still need a hitting coach by Christmas.

I started researching people online that would be good hitting coaches but couldn't find anything really.

Sorry about the lack of good updates really. There's nothing more I can really update on until my expansion draft players are made. (When I get home from my trip). So, if I don't update the log for awhile it's becuase I don't have anything to update on, it's not dead. But, I NEED a hitting coach. Please sign up!

Since SkittleMonster is gone I can ask him what you want to know so he can make the hitting coach decisions, whatever they will be.

Hey guys! I am finally back from my business trip and can't wait to roll out JPPY and make the 50 players I need. It could take a week or 2 but be expecting more updates soon.

Also, is anyone interested in being the hitting coach? I really need one!

December 12th, 2011

I was finally able to get looks at some young pitchers who will be in the expansion draft. I looked at 12 pitchers today and here is how they looked according to their college coaches.

Pos.Name.TSPD.CTRL.STAM.BREAKING BALLS
P Lin Park 130 D(56) A(81) 1CUT 1DCB
P Tsu-Hyan Chong 141 F(37) D(56) 3SHU
P Sora Maeda 142 A(84) S(100) 2HSLD 1SLD 4VSLD
P Titus Whitberg 144 C(62) D(50) 2SFB 3HSHU 1SCB
P Ricardo Florimon 147 B(78) C(61) 4SFF
P Toshiyuki Hamamoto 127 D(57) B(74) 2HSHU 1SNK 2VSLD 2CB
P Asashi Imamura 133 G(27) D(55) 5SCB 1PALM
P Edwin Lopez 136 C(62) D(56) 3SNK
P Sergio Tejada 126 D(51) D(56) 2SFB 4HSHU 1SNK
P Yuki Hura 136 D(53) D(59) 2CHG 3HSNK
P Ryo Kakuta 137 C(65) F(30) 1CB 4SNK
P Sugiura Kamiya 130 C(66) D(56) 3HSLD 1CB

*Please note all players were made in board game except Sora Maeda

Sora sure did stand out to me over all the players. After I processed he lost a couple times I sent my scouts the email and they would give me scouting reports.

December 13th, 2012

With the draft coming in less than a month, I got some more detailed views on the other 12 pitchers in he expansion draft.

Pos.Name.......TSPD.CTRL.STAM.Breakers
P Shiichi Honda 118 G(23) G(25) 2PALM
P Daisuke Iwase 145 E(46) C(66) 2CUT 2FORK
P Qu Onodera 136 C(61) C(64) 1FORK 1SNK
P Sari Harnish 148 D(57) E(42) 6SNK
P Andy Gates 143 D(59) D(50) 2HSLD 2SFF 1HSHU
P Wilson Redd 136 B(73) B(79) 2HSLD 2SLD 1HSHU
P Seiichi Murakami 131 C(67) C(64) 6HSLD 2SNK 2HSHU
P Kijolto Rin 128 E(44) C(69) 2SFB 3SFF
P Norihisa Nishioka 134 D(51) D(53) 5HSNK
P Kenji Ishijima 138 F(38) B(79) 5DCB
P Masato Kosashi 135 E(43) F(33) 5KNCB
P Arime Shuihara 129 F(34) E(44) 3SLD 1DCB 3CHG

After looking over these players I sent emails to my scouts again asking for counting reports. The strange things was that only Toshiyuki and Tim answered my 1st emails.

Later, I got a call from Kyoto Whalers GM, Sadaharu Oh, saying that I could pick if I wanted to have the 1st pick in the pitcher draft or the fielder draft, because there is a pitcher draft and a fielder draft. I debated big time and said I'd answer him later.

I thought to myself, "Do I want Maeda? Or do I want a superstar hitter I haven't even seen yet?"
