Assuming I'm not the only one with the PS2 version, I'd like to pose a question: Do you prefer controlling the batting/pitching cursor with the d-pad or with the analog stick?

For me, it's d-pad all the way, as the analog stick is way too imprecise. I tried it in homerun derby, and every time I hit the swing button, it moved the cursor EVER SO SLIGHTLY, turning my 512-foot homeruns into ground balls to the pitcher.

I did play the PS2 version for a little bit, and I used the analog. I kind of like the analog feel on the PS2 more than the VC controller though, but it's probably because I am more used to it

I use the digital pad because I'm used to the SNES version.

I believe you and I are pretty much the only ones in this board to play this game on PS2. The most frustrating part is that all the codes that have been shared aren't compatible for the Ps2... Anyways, I use the Analog mode, just works best for me.

I used to pwn analog stick hitting in Pawapuro but ever since they got rid of the the catcher mitt location window my hitting has been Mendozan.

I've got the PS2 version as well. But I don't have a digital camera so sharing passwords is out of the question for me. I can't be assed to write it all down on a piece of paper and then type it in here. Especially when my characters are only average compared to the ridiculous ones that have already been posted.

Don't worry, a new PS2 guy is here now! :D

It's the first time I play this game and I love it! I'm using the analog so far and it's not that bad... just sad to see the guy dancing everytime I move the joystick.

It's d-pad all the way for me. I agree with calvin; the analog is too sensitive.

I use the D-pad as well, and yes, I am one of the rare few playing this on the PS2 as well.

I also have created characters, but they're all just myself or friends of mine, some have all A's and a few others are normal. Let me know if anyone wants them and I'll see what I can do.

one disadvantage that i've found using the d-pad is that if the pitcher loses control of his pitch (he gets that white exclamation cloud thing above his head) and throws it right down the middle, it is extremely difficult to hit the select button to reset the sweetspot cursor back to the center in time to hit the pitch. in this case, i almost always get a strike or get struckout. i find that the analog controls get in the way when trying to quickly push the select button and it would probably be better to have the reset button on one of the unused L or R buttons when batting. i'm thinking about adding this recommendation to the mlbpp 2 thread on the 2k sports forum.

by the looks of this thread, there are probably more PS2 players then we realize. if the new mlb power pros game is online then i'm totally up for a few games against fellow forum members 8)

I completely agree with you critical, you're pretty much damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

On top of what you described, which happens to me too often for me to be happy with, I also use the analog to pitch solely for the fact that I feel like the only way to have a good chance to field well I need to use the analog so I'm not stuck with eight directions!

i've finally figured out how to reset the bat cursor successfully when using the d-pad (besides the whole select button thing). the designated button to do this is L2, just as you can reset your fielding shift on defense when hitting this button (picking up the rosin bag). not quite sure why this was left out of the instruction manual (among other things) but better late then never i suppose  8)
