Week 14 2017: Bears Continue Winning Streak, But There's A Catch
(Note: The score on the AJ Green TD should be 7-0 CIN)

The Bears won a barn-burner against the Bengals in Week 14. After a close first half, the Bengals fumbled on two consecutive plays. Both were returned for touchdowns by Jerrell Freeman and Sam Acho. At the end of the 3rd, the Bears led 49-24. However, the Bengals made it much closer thanks to 2 defensive touchdowns. The Bears were forced to punt with less than two minutes to go, clinging to a 7-point lead. However, Gio Bernard fumbled the punt, leading to a clinching recovery for the Bears. Leonard Floyd set the all-time season sack record, grabbing his 23rd sack of the season. The Minnesota Vikings once again lost, putting their record at 6-7. Green Bay defeated Cleveland, improving their record to 6-7 as well. If both of these teams lose and Chicago defeats Detroit in Week 15, the Bears will clinch their first NFC North division title since 2010. It wasn't all positives for the Bears, unfortunately. Rookie sensation Tarik Cohen suffered a shoulder tear in the 2nd quarter, and will miss the remainder of the regular season. Veteran safety Quintin Demps will be out for the remainder of the season as well.

Week 15 2017: Don't Cry Because It's Over, Smile Because It Happened

Chicago's winning streak finally came to an end at the hands of the Detroit Lions. The Bears front-7 was outplayed by Detroit's front-7, who sacked Mitchell Trubisky 9 times, and held Jordan Howard to only 83 yards on 20 carries. Ezekiel Ansah had 6.5 sacks and a defensive touchdown. Marcus Cooper's interception of Colin Kaepernick gave the Bears hope, but the Lions defense shut down numerous Bears drives in the fourth quarter. The Vikings were defeated by the Bengals 42-10, but Green Bay defeated Carolina 17-10 on a late scoring drive led by Brett Hundley. Green Bay and Minnesota will face each other on Christmas Eve. Wins by the Bears and Vikings would clinch the NFC North for the Bears. A Green Bay win would eliminate Minnesota and force a complicated tiebreaker scenario in Week 17. Aaron Rodgers is expected to return in Week 17 as well. Max Richards has declared Chicago's Week 16 matchup against Cleveland a must-win game.

I'd take Butt Fumble over Glennon at this point.

Week 16 2017: NFC North Champs!
The Vikings defeated the Packers prior to kickoff, putting Chicago's fate in their own hands.

For the first time since 2010, the Chicago Bears will be headed to the postseason! Mitchell Trubisky had a bounceback game, breaking the all-time rookie record for Touchdown passes. Jordan Howard was limited on the ground, but made up for it with 165 receiving yards. Deonte Thompson returned a kick for a touchdown on the final play of the second half, allowing the Bears to take momentum into the half. The Bears never looked back and clinched the NFC North Crown.
Max Richards wrote:
All credit goes to these guys. When you start 2-5, it's easy to throw in the towel on the season. These guys refused to let go. We stuck to our gameplan each game and fought hard for 60 minutes. Determination like that is so rare for such a young team. I'm so lucky to be able to coach these guys every weekend. They represent the city of Chicago in tremendous fashion. We're looking forward to the postseason.

With a tightly contested NFC, there are several different scenarios that can play out over the next week. One even involves Chicago becoming the first seed in the NFC. Here is a list of a few potential scenarios:

Week 17 2017: More Struggles Against Minnesota

Image
Image

Once again, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears. Andrew Sendejo picked off Mitchell Trubisky twice in three drives. Sam Bradford easily picked apart the Bears defense a second time. The Bears were driving late in the game down 20-17, but Benny Cunningham Jr. fumbled after a gain of 9. The Vikings capitalized off the turnover, scoring a game-clinching touchdown. Trubisky led Chicago on a long scoring drive, but the Bears could not recover the ensuing onside kick. The Bears enter the NFC Playoffs as the 4 seed and will face the 9-7 New York Giants in the Wild Card Round.
