BREAKING: Bears Fire John Fox, Hire Max Richards
After a 3-13 2016 campaign, the Chicago Bears have pulled the trigger and fired head coach John Fox. Fox was 9-23 in his short-lived Bears career, with his only signature win coming against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving in 2015. Many are critical of the move, blaming injuries and limited depth on the failures of the 2016 Bears. Ryan Pace, however, stated that the team needed a shakeup in leadership, as the team looks to become more youthful. The 36 year-old Max Richards spent 7 seasons as the head coach of Ohio University, leading them to the MAC Championship last season. Richards specializes in the development of quarterbacks, which is ideal for Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago's highly anticipated first round pick. Richards runs the West Coast offense, but places a strong emphasis on playing mistake-free football, controlling the clock. Richards has stated that the Bears will be a run-heavy team from the beginning, utilizing Jordan Howard and exciting rookie Tarik Cohen. Despite having the 24th-ranked defense in 2016, there is plenty of optimism regarding Chicago's defense, led by Akiem Hicks, Danny Trevathan, and Jerrell Freeman. Chicago's two biggest weaknesses have to be at the WR and CB positions, especially due to loss of Cameron Meredith. It will be interesting to see if Chicago will make a move at either of these positions. USA Today has predicted a 5-11 finish for Chicago this season, the general consensus around the league.

BREAKING: BEARS NAME MITCHELL TRUBISKY STARTING QB
Major news has come out of Chicago regarding the Quarterback position. First year head coach Max Richards has announced that rookie Mitchell Trubisky will start over Mike Glennon.
Max Richards wrote:
Mitch's play in the preseason has made it evident that he is ready to start in this league immidiately. The tools are there. The decision making is there. He is a hard worker and has proven that over this preseason. We're all excited for his debut, and Bears fans should be as well.

WEEK 1: A NEW ERA BEGINS
Anticipation rang throughout the city of Chicago. For the first time in what seems like an eternity, the Chicago Bears have a new Franchise Quarterback. Callers flooded radio show telephone lines to show their support for Mitchell Trubisky. Meanwhile, Max Richards and his new coaching spent long hour preparing for the defending NFC Champions.

The Bears got off to a strong start, taking a 17-14 lead into the half. Mitch Trubisky threw his first career touchdown to Kendall Wright, who was impressive in his Bears debut. However, Trubisky hit his first roadblock, throwing a pick-six to Vic Beasley. Trubisky rebounded nicely, leading the Bears on a scoring drive. However, Atlanta responded with a field goal to take a 27-24 lead. The next drive was an scare for Chicago, as Mitch Trubisky injured his elbow on a 3rd-down sack, causing an injury timeout. Mike Glennon entered the game and threw a desperation interception on 4th and long. Trubisky returned, and led the Bears to their own 49, setting up a Hail Mary attempt. This failed as Trubisky was sacked once again. The Bears were disappointed, but remained optimistic heading into their Week 2 showdown with Tampa Bay.

BEARS DEFENSE DOMINATES, WIN FIRST GAME IN SEPTEMBER SINCE 2014
The Bears hit the road for the first time in 2017, searching for their first September win since Marc Trestman was the Head Coach of the team.

Image

Max Richards grabbed his first career NFL win thanks to a dominant defensive performance. The Bears' defense in 2016 struggled to sack the QB and force turnovers. Today, they recorded 12 sacks and scored 2 defensive touchdowns. Despite grabbing a 27-13 lead, Chris Conte hurt the Bears once again, returning an interception for a touchdown. Tarik Cohen fumbled on the very next drive, setting up a game-tying touchdown from the Buccaneers. However, with less than two minutes to go, Willie Young recorded his 5th sack of the game, forcing a fumble, which was recovered and returned by Akiem Hicks. The Bears contained Winston extremely well, holding him to 230 yards and a 69.9 rating. The Bears suffered their first in-season injury, as Charles Leno will miss five weeks due to an abdominal tear. This performance will definitely generate some early season excitement for the Bears.

WEEK 3 2017: Steelers Make It Close, But Bears Fly Past Steelers

Image
Image

It was a game to forget for the Steelers, who sputtered offensively for 3 quarters. Mitchell Trubisky had one of the best performances by a Quarterback in Bears history, throwing for 385 yards and 3 touchdowns. Once again, the Bears defense continued their historic pace, recording 11 sacks. Willie Young recorded four, as well as forcing a key fumble late in the fourth quarter. Young was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. The Steelers made it closer than it was, scoring 14 unanswered points with less than a minute to play, thanks to a recovered onside kick. The play of the game came in the fourth quarter, when the aforementioned Willie Young forced a strip-sack at the goal line. Mitchell Trubisky showed off his arm strength, throwing several passes over 30 yards. The Bears will face their archrivals, the Green Bay Packers, on Thursday Night Football.

It's insane, we are playing mostly man and zone coverages. We are also giving up plenty of sacks as well. I tried adjusting the sliders, but there's still a large number of sacks. I think the new engine just doesn't favor the O-Line.

Hmm, that's interesting. Most of the other numbers seem pretty realistic so i guess the sacks aren't really screwing that up
