End of Season Positional Analysis: Quarterbacks Advanced Stats: David Garrard- 8.4 AY/A, 6.97 NY/A, 7.62 ANY/A Analysis: Garrard had an excellent season, posting an impressive 102.2 QB rating which ranked 3rd in the NFL among qualified passers. He was a model of consistency, as his QB rating didn’t dip below 80.0 in any game during the regular season, and it frequently went above 100.0. He also protected the football, with just 3 interceptions on 325 attempts, or 1 per 108 passes. He also added 199 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well. ANY/A per game (ANY/A= pass yards + 20•(pass TD) - 45•(INT) - sack yards/ (pass attempts +sacks) Quinn Gray: 6.7 AY/A, 5.96 NY/A, 5.80 ANY/A Gray impressed stepping in as the Jaguars backup quarterback. His first performance stepping in for an injured Garrard was dreadful in a 29-7 loss to Indianapolis, but he improved a lot after that (10 TDs and 3 INTs with a 101.0 QB rating). He was especially impressive in December, posting a QB rating north of 120.0 on the month. Like Garrard, he was able to provide value as a rusher as well (6.5 YPC) |

Here’s how the Jaguars pass defense faired in terms of ANY/A: Long story short, the Jags pass defense struggled against elite passing offenses and quarterbacks, such as the Tom Brady-led Patriots, Peyton Manning-led Colts, and Drew Brees-led Saints. Outside of that, they were very impressive, consistently forcing takeaways and putting pressure on opposing QBs. Jaguars pass defense: Game 1-7: 136/225 (60.4%), 1,534 yards (6.8 YPA), 5 TD, 8 INT, 73.5 QB rating, 19 sacks, -112 yards Game 8 (@NO): 35/49 (71.4%), 445 yards (9.1 YPA), 3 TD, 0 INT, 119.9 QB rating, 1 sack, -10 yards Game 9-11: 73/121 (60.3%), 742 yards (6.1 YPA), 3 TD, 6 INT, 65.5 QB rating, 5 sacks, -35 yards Game 12 (@IND): 20/29 (68.9%), 288 yards (9.9 YPA), 4 TD, 1 INT, 126.1 QB rating, 1 sack, -9 yards Game 13-17: 84/161 (52.2%), 763 yards (4.7 YPA), 7 TD, 8 INT, 59.1 QB rating, 17 sacks, -118 yards Game 18 (@NE): 26/28 (92.9%), 262 yards (9.4 YPA), 3 TD, 0 INT, 141.4 QB rating, 1 sack, -4 yards |
