The Raiders are fed up with losing and have taken a major step. They have hired head coach Nick Cale from the University of Ohio. Cale's college coaching records are as follows:

Cale is known for his aggressive style of coaching and is known as a motivator. Cale played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys from 1996-1999. He is more than excited to start the 2014 season.

Preseason Week 1
Oakland Raiders 0-0
Minnesota Vikings 0-0

The Raiders were ready to start a new era in their history. They took on the Minnesota Vikings in Nick Cale's NFL coaching debut. Matt Schaub was kmnocked out of the game on the first play, but luckily would only miss the rest of the game. The Raiders impressed on offense, driving down for a McFadden touchdown run. The Raiders continued to impress, as they made it 10-0 on a Janikowski field goal. The Raiders started off the second with ANOTHER touchdown. Later in the second, Janikowski hit another field goal, making it 20-0. The Vikings finally got on the board with a Walsh field goal in the 3rd. Banyard scored the first Minnesota touchdown in the fourth. The Raiders ended their scoring with a late touchdown. The Vikings ended their scoring with a touchdown pass by Ponder, closing a 27-17 Raiders victory.

Preseason Week 2
Detroit Lions 1-0
Oakland Raiders 1-0

Oakland looked to carry their positive momentum from the first preseason game into the second one. The Raiders settled for a Janikowski field goal on the first drive of the game. On the next drive, tragedy struck as Matt Schaub was injured again. Matt McGloin finished the drive with a touchdown pass. Detroit scored in the second with a touchdown pass from Orlovsky. Tragedy hit us again as Matt McGloin left the game with a chest injury. The Lions tied it up in the 3rd with a field goal. Derek Carr and Greg Little connected for a go ahead touchdown. Derek Carr rushed for a touchdown of his own, giving Oakland a two score lead. The Raiders defense looked monstrous as they sacked Orlovsky for a safety. Oakland finished off an impressive win.

Preseason Week 3

Green Bay Packers 0-2

Oakland and Green Bay battled it out in the "Frozen Tundra". Matt Schaub connected with Denarius Moore for the first touchdown of the game, giving Oakland an early lead. The Raiders drove down and scored on a Darren McFadden touchdown run. The Raiders drove down again, but only settled for a field goal. Green Bay finally scored a touchdown in the 3rd. Matt McGloin rushed for a 1 yard touchdown later that quarter. The Raiders put up a drive yet again, and settled for a field goal. On Oakland's next drive, Matt McGloin was hurt again. Oakland improved to 3-0 with a big win in Oakland.

Preseason Week 4
Seattle Seahawks 1-2
Oakland Raiders 3-0

The Raiders took on the defending champs in the final preseason game. Oakland gave up their first big touchdown of the year, a 78 yard touchdown pass from Wilson to Lynch. Oakland gave up another big touchdown on an 80 yard pass from Wilson. The Seahawks scored again, taking a 21-0 lead in the second. Oakland finally settled for a field goal late in the second, their first score of the game. Darren McFadden rushed for a short touchdown, cutting Seattle's lead. The Raiders scored again on a touchdown pass by McGloin. The 2-point conversion made it 21-18 Seattle. Sebastian Janikowski tied it up with a 30 yard field goal. Matt McGloin made his biggest mistake of the season by throwing a pick-6. Matt McGloin connected with Holmes on a perfect touchdown pass. However, to save fatigue, the Raiders went for 2. It failed miserably. Seattle won 28-27.

In a shocking move, Matt McGloin was named Oakland's starter. Oakland was ready to kick off another year. The Jets scored first on a Nick Folk field goal. Oakland took a 7-3 lead on a touchdown pass to Jones. Nick Folk hit another field goal in the late 2nd. The Raiders put up a field goal of their own on the next drive, giving them a 10-6 lead. Nick Folk connected for another field goal to start the 2nd half. The raiders made a huge defensive mistake, allowing a wide open Jets receiver to score a touchdown. The 2-point conversion was no good. Matt McGloin continued his injury streak with another injury. Matt Schaub replaced him and did well, throwing a touchdown pass. The 2-point conversion was no good. With 58 seconds left in the game, Nick Folk kicked another field goal, giving New York an 18-16 lead. However, the Raiders made the game look easy by driving down the field in 30 seconds. Matt McGloin connected with Ausberry for the go ahead touchdown. New York desperately tried to score, but their efforts fell short, giving Oakland a 23-18 win.

Houston Texans 0-1
Oakland Raiders 1-0

The Raiders took on the Texans in their home opener. Houston started the scoring with an early field goal. Oakland scored their first touchdown on a pass from McGloin to Jones. On Oakland's next drive, McGloin connected with Jones for another touchdown. Matt McGloin was injured again, and was forced to leave the game. The Raiders settled for a Sebastian Janikowski field goal late in the second. Matt Schaub led a drive down the field, resulting in a touchdown. Maurice Jones-Drew pounded the ball in for a 1-yard touchdown, giving Oakland a 31-7 hold on Houston. The Raiders injury problems at QB continued, as Matt Schaub broke his ribs. On Derek Carr's first drive, he connected with Denarius Moore for a 77-yard touchdown. Houston kicked a worthless field goal with 2 minutes to go, finishing a 38-6 Raiders win.
