It's hard to believe that the New York Giants won the Superbowl after the 2011-12 season. In 2012, they collapsed near the end of the season and missed the playoffs, and last season was a complete disaster. Last year's Giants started the season 0-6, before finally getting a groove and finishing the season 7-3. However, a 7-9 record will not cut it, and Tom Coughlin knows that. The Giants decided to extend his contract, allowing the old coach to return for another season of coaching Giants football. If there is one player under the most scrutiny heading into the 2014 NFL season, it has to be QB Eli Manning. He was a complete embarrassment last season, throwing 27 interceptions, after a gauranteeing that he would never be a 20-interception thrower again after the 2010 season. The Giants can only hope that vintage Eli returns for this season, as they look to win the division in what is looking to be another weak year for the NFC East.

NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #1
Image
New York Giants (0-0) @ Detroit Lions (0-0)
Game Summary
It was a rough start for the Giants in the first game of the season, but they overcame injuries in the end and their defense made the stops to earn a 24-14 victory over the Detroit Lions on the road. The Giants offense, trailing 7-0 with just over two minutes left in the Second Quarter was rolling on a long drive that took them deep into Lions territory, but an errant Eli Manning pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown to give Detroit the early 14-0 advantage. However, Eli was not rattled, as he led another long drive utilizing key playmakers Victor Cruz and rookie Odell Beckham Jr. to get to the Lions 2 yard line, where RB Peyton Hillis ran it in for the score. With 5 seconds left in the half, Tom Coughlin decided for an onside kick, which the Giants recovered after it bounced off the hands of several Lions returners. Rashad Jennings ran for 8 yards, setting up a 54 yard kick for Josh Brown, which he nailed to cut the Detroit lead to 14-10 heading into halftime. The Giants received the second half kickoff and never looked back. Manning led an 11 play drive which culminated with a 14 yard strike to Rueben Randle for a touchdown, giving the Giants their first lead of the season. With two minutes left, the Giants, up by 3, decided to run a QB sneak on the Lions' 4 yard line on 4th and Inches. Manning's run failed and he was slammed to the turf by Ndamukong Suh, giving the Lions one last chance for a win. SS Antrel Rolle recovered a key Reggie Bush fumble, and Ryan Nassib, filling in for the injured Manning, tossed a 4 yard touchdown pass to Mario Manningham, sealing off a Giants victory.

NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #2

New York Giants (1-0) vs Arizona Cardinals (1-0)
Game Summary
The Giants and Cardinals traded scores early, but in the second half, the Giants defense halted Arizona's offense and the Giants' offense ran away with the game. In the first quarter, both teams scored field goals, but the Giants started the second quarter with a long, quick, scoring drive. Eli Manning connected with Victor Cruz on a 27 yard pass, and the drive ended with a 44 yard touchdown catch and run by Odell Beckham Jr. The Cardinals could not retaliate on their next drive, and Manning found Cruz for an 8 yard touchdown pass on the Giants next offensive series. The Cardinals added a field goal before the half ended, and both teams traded field goals in the third quarter. With the Giants leading 20-9, Eli Manning figuratively ended the game with an 18 yard touchdown throw to Cruz, giving the Giants a 27-9 lead that wound up being a 27-16 victory.

NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #3
Image
Houston Texans (1-1) at New York Giants (2-0)
Game Summary
The Giants, looking to start the season 3-0, met the Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium. Into the two-minute warning of the 4th Quarter, it seemed certain that the Giants would have the victory, but nothing is certain in the NFL. Down 13-3 with 1:58 left in the game, the Ryan Fitzpatrick-led Texans went on an unbelievable comeback, as they scored a quick touchdown, then forced a Victor Cruz fumble with 0:20 left, and K Rob Bironas nailed a long field goal after his first attempt (which he missed) was called back due to a Tom Couglin icing attempt. Eli Manning, who had only thrown one interception on the season coming into the game, threw a pick on the first Giants drive of the game when a long pass to Odell Beckham Jr. was jumped in front of. Manning threw an interception on the first drive of OT with the Giants down in Houston's Red Zone. After the Giants defense forced a punt, all the Giants had to do was kick a field goal. However, Manning threw another bad interception, his third of the game, and this was the costliest of them all, as Bironas drilled another kick to give the Texans the win, and the Giants their first loss of the young season.

NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #4
Image
New York Giants (2-1) @ Washington Redskins (0-3)
Game Summary:
On Thursday Night Football in Washington, DC, the Giants took on the winless Redskins and were embarrassed in primetime. The offense simply could not connect most of the night, and the defense could not stop the Washington offense at all, allowing 38 points in their worst showing of the season. After falling behind 3-0 in the late part of the 1st Quarter, Eli Manning led the Giants offense down the field, but a pass to Odell Beckham Jr. was intercepted by Washington CB David Amerson, ending the drive. The Giants found themselves down 6-0 at the two-minute warning. After a Manning strike to Victor Cruz to the Redskins 1 yard line, (which was reviewed by the booth), Manning ran it in on a QB sneak with 1:30 to go in the half. The Redskins added a field goal before the half ended and an Alfred Morris rushing touchdown in the 3rd Quarter to make it a 16-7 Washington lead heading into the 4th Quarter. The Giants had the football, looking poised to make a comeback. That's where the fun ended. RB Rashad Jennings fumbled at the Giants 20 yard line, and within 30 seconds later the Washington lead was now 24-7. The Giants still had hope, but had to score quickly as time was their greatest enemy. A Manning desperation pass to Victor Cruz was intercepted, and soon it was 31-7. After the Giants cut the lead to 31-13, Washington scored again to extend their lead to an insurmountable 38-13, which ended up being a 38-19 final. The Giants head home next week to take on the Atlanta Falcons, looking to end their losing streak with the help of the fans.

NFL REGULAR SEASON WEEK #5
Image
Atlanta Falcons (2-2) @ New York Giants (2-2)
Game Summary:
Two 2-2 teams met at MetLife Stadium, with the Giants trying to snap a two-game skid, especially trying to forget last week's 38-19 embarrassment at the hands of the Washington Redskins. And they did just that, with a 28-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons at home. Eli Manning not only threw well, but also ran for three (3) touchdowns on three different QB sneaks from the Falcons' 1-yard line on successful drives. The Giants defense locked down Matt Ryan's passing attempts throughout the entire game, and the Giants as a team proved that they can win again. The Giants play their biggest game of the young season next Sunday night, when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles on the nationally-televised Sunday Night Football game of the week, battling for first place in the NFC East.

NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #7
Image
New York Giants (4-2) @ Dallas Cowboys (3-3)
Game Summary
The Giants, coming off their biggest win of the season, traveled to Dallas to reignite their legendary rivalry with the Cowboys. It was a struggle in the first half for both teams offensively, as the game went into the two-minute warning with the Giants holding a 10-7 lead. Manning tried to extend that lead with a throw to the end zone with 20 seconds before the half ended, but his long throw was intercepted by Brandon Carr. After halftime, Tony Romo finally arrived, throwing two long touchdown passes in the Third Quarter to take a 21-13 lead. Then came the Fourth Quarter, where the roles reverse, as Manning usually comes through in the end and Romo cannot. Manning threw a touchdown strike to Mario Manningham, and the Giants added a successful two point conversion to tie the game at 21 all. After that, the offenses were quiet. But after the two-minute warning, Romo choked away the game again for the Cowboys, throwing a pass that was intercepted by CB Zack Bowman, who returned it for a 47 yard pick six to give the Giants the late 28-21 lead. Romo had one last chance to redeem himself, but alas, Bowman jumped in front of another pass and returned it 22 yards, sealing the game for the Giants. Manning added another touchdown pass as time expired to make the final score 35-21 Giants. New York gets their first win over the Cowboys since 2012 and will take their bye week with an impressive 5-2 record.

NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #7

Indianapolis Colts (6-2) @ New York Giants (5-2)
Game Summary
The Giants returned home to MetLife stadium following their bye week to take on the red hot Colts. It was an offensive shootout, but in the end, New York prevailed. The Giants scored an early rushing touchdown, and it got better when Jason Pierre-Paul recovered a fumble on the next play from scrimmage, the first Colts possession. On 2nd & 10, Manning found Odell Beckham Jr. on a slant over the middle for a 23 had touchdown. However, the Colts defense stymied the Big Blue offense after that, allowing their offense, led by former Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw, to take a 17-14 lead. After a Rashad Jennings rushing touchdown to reclaim the lead, the Giants got another chance to add to the lead as an Andrew Luck pass was intercepted by Zack Bowman, who returned it to the Colts 41 with only 15 seconds left in the first half. Josh Brown nailed a field goal to extend the Giants lead to 24-17. The Colts and Giants traded touchdowns in the Third Quarter, with the game heading to the Fourth Quarter tied at 31 all. The Giants had the ball before the two minute warning, and were driving into Colts territory when a Manning pass to the end zone was intercepted by Delano Howell. However, Coughlin challenged the ruling that Howell was downed in the end zone, as the old coach believed Howell had been tackled at the 1 Yard line instead. The Referees looked at the replay and overturned the call, determining that Howell was in fact tackled outside of the end zone at the 1 instead of a touchback. This turned out to be crucial as on the next play, Bradshaw was tackled in the end zone for a safety, giving the Giants a late lead which they would not replenish. The Giants received the free kick after the safety and Jennings ran one in from 20 yards out, and after a two point conversion, the Giants led by 10. They would finish the game with a final score of 41-31.

NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #9
Image
New York Giants (6-2) @ Seattle Seahawks (5-3)
Game Summary
What a difference a year makes. Last season, the Seahawks shut out the Giants at home in a game where Eli Manning threw 5 interceptions. Today, the Giants traveled to Seattle to get revenge. They did just that on the road in the toughest place to play. The game was not that exciting until the Fourth Quarter, which opened with the Seahawks in the red zone, threatening to tie the game at 10. From the Giants 15, Marshawn Lynch fumbled, which was recovered by Jason Pierre-Paul. All the Giants had to do was score again and the game would be over. On the next play, Manning threw a slant pass to Odell Beckham Jr., who fumbled for the first time since Week 1. The Seahawks pounced on it and soon tied the game at 10. Just because he fumbled doesn't mean the Manning lost any confidence in Beckham Jr., however. On the next Giants possession, New York faced 3rd & 8 from their own 22. Before the two-minute warning, Manning dropped back and found the rookie receiver for a 20 yard gain. The Giants kept running to get into field goal range with 15 seconds left. On 3rd down in field goal range, Manning played risky and chucked a long one up to Victor Cruz. It paid off in dividends, as Cruz burned Richard Sherman and came down with the winning touchdown. The Giants play the San Francisco 49ers next.

San Francisco 49ers (5-4) @ New York Giants (7-2)
Game Summary
Needing a victory on the road, the 49ers scored early, quickly, efficiently, and often as they crushed, blew out, demolished, and completely and utterly embarrassed the New York Giants on their home turf. I'm not even going to recap this game. It was the worst game I've ever played. (I sim defense, too). Frank Gore was on beast mode or something. Thank god we play the Jaguars and Titans.

Dallas Cowboys (5-5) @ New York Giants (7-3)
Game Summary
It was a big win for the Giants at home on Sunday Night Football over the rival Dallas Cowboys. The Giants offense worked well and the defense buckled down after getting dismantled last week by the San Francisco 49ers. With the victory, the Giants improve to 8-3, guaranteeing at least a .500 season. The Giants begin the softest part of their schedule now, as they play the Jaguars, Rams and Titans on the road and the Redskins and Eagles at home to close out the season.

New York Giants (8-3) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (5-6)
On the road in sunny Jacksonville, the Giants got a greater fight than they expected from the Jaguars, but walked away victorious in overtime to reach 9 wins, guaranteeing a winning record this season. On the Giants opening drive, Manning led the offense to the Jags' 8 yard line. His pass to TE Kellen Davis was complete, but CB Alan Ball forced a fumble, which he recovered an returned 90 yards for an early 7-0 Jaguars lead. The Jags got it back late in the First Quarter again, but a Blake Bortles pass was intercepted by Prince Amukamara to give the Giants great starting position on their next set of offensive downs, and Manning ran a touchdown in from the one to tie it up. Both teams traded scores throughout the rest of regulation. The game headed into overtime tied at 24. The Jaguars got the ball first, but failed to advance. On the next Giants drive, Josh Brown kicked the winning field goal on 4th & Goal from the Jaguars 1 yard line to win the game. The Giants stay in the AFC South to take on the Tennessee Titans next week.
